Stayed for one Saturday night in order to attend concert at nearby Fishpond Pub. The hotel is situated on the top of an hill with plenty of free parking. It takes approx 5 minutes max to walk to the middle of Matlock Bath. The room was large and clean with bath and shower. The room had tea making facilities. The staff... More

We stay at the Temple for a weekend every November for a get together with friends. Over the years we've seen steady improvements to the old place and, with fresh carpets and refurbished bedrooms, it's a comfortable and quirky place to stay near the centre of Matlock Bath. Having said that, it is situated up a rather steep hill which... More

Booked last minute and very impressed by 3 nights for the price of 2 - making it very affordable for families. Visited as a family of 4 with both sets of our parents, making a group of 8 in total. Puzzled on booking that our children had to be split between our room and a grandparents room as our family... More

Thank you for all the nice comments that you have written about the hotel and the area. We did discuss why we limit the amount of children and our policy with the person that made this booking so we can't see why you are surprised why we split the children in the group. This was agreed to at the time... More

Very friendly staff and some fantastic real ales. Food is now only available on certain days, with a theme, targeted mainly at the locals, but guests are welcome and we never felt out if place. It was pie night for us and it was lovely, with really nice veg.

Just returned from a lovely couple of nights at The Temple. The hotel is old - walls and floors a bit quirky in places, but very clean and well furnished. Breakfast was excellent. Good value for money and friendly informative staff. Great views of the Derwent Valley due to it's location on the hillside overlooking Matlock Bath and the best... More

I have just had a weekend here with my wife and some friends. We came for the "Lights and Fireworks", what a fantastic place to stay to enjoy these. The hotel overlooks the valley, with the display coming from the opposite hillside. The Rooms are good for the price paid, infact I've paid much more for a lot less. The... More

My three night stay was the accommodation highlight of my trip through middle England. To say this hotel has character is an understatement, it is over 200 years old after all, so if it's Hilton or even Premier Inn you're looking for you may be disappointed. I can't add much to the other good reviews, so will point out that... More

My partner and I stayed for one night at this hotel en route to friends. My expectations were not high, but we were really happy with the lovely large room, with quality furniture and a big comfy bed, with views over the Derwent valley. The staff were helpful and efficient . We did not have breakfast, but had a late... More

We stayed for three nights whilst on a touring holiday and the hosts could not have been more helpful. Make no mistake, this is not a Premier Inn or similar, it is bursting with character and is a small family run hotel. Sure there is no full time receptionist, but ring the old school bell and the owner soon appears.... More

The Temple Hotel is a 17th century, small, family run hotel in beautiful Matlock Bath. Our hosts, Mel and Chris, were very welcoming, the bar was open and our first evening started with a much needed drink! Our room was very nicely furnished and in keeping with the age of the hotel. We explored Matlock and surrounding area over the... More
