We stayed here for one night in June 2014 whilst travelling from Northern Slovenia into Croatia. The hotel is absolutely stunning. It is located on a small island in the middle of a most beautiful river. We only had time to do a short walk in the area, but nevertheless had the impression that the surrounding countryside is very nice,... More

Apart from the wonderful historic castle itself - finely and sympathetically renovated to 21st century standards - everything about this hotel, and what it offers, is perfection. The accommodation is first class, the restaurant top notch and the staff in all areas friendly, welcoming and excellent. Add to that that the castle is located on a small idyllic island and... More

It was the OktoberFriday when I went from Ljubljana to Zagreb. The highway is quickly poured into Dolenjsko, part of Slovenia, which is very reminiscent of Lower Austria. A similar configuration, greenery and hills but everything - nature, buildings and people - a little more tousled from Austria and its pedantry. Here are Balkans some but enough touched Central Europe,... More

Booking this hotel for our party of 7 was rather extravagant (quite expensive) and I was worried that I'd be disappointed. But I needn't have worried because it was divine. The suites were gorgeous. My parents' room had a bathroom (with jacuzzi) nearly bigger than some hotel rooms. The castle grounds with moat and gardens was like a setting for... More

I'm an Englishman living in Slovenia so I like to think I have the best of both worlds. Along with fellow golfing fanatics, we regularly visit the castle for lunch, or perhaps just a cup of coffee before indulging in our passion. In every case the food at Otocec Castle is splendid, while the service is refined and impeccable. Having... More

Stayed there for few days, while on my way to Switzerland. A pleasant surprise, great location with great service. The view from the castle is magnificent and the rooms are spectacular(modern but you could still feel the medieval ambiance). The food in the restaurant was also very good. Definitely a place thats worth a visit.

This is 5 star hotel and restaurant and I suppose the price reflects this. However having said this, it was not as much as I expected The restaurant is of course silver service and the menu inventive and extensive. Service impeccable Our room had a jacuzzi The building is on an island and very picturesque Staff of course, the best

We spent an evening during October on a cold, blustery day. The castle was warm and cozy despite the weather. The rooms are exquisite and very comfortable! Dinner was incredible with a five course chef special!

We had booked over the internet and didn't know it was a Relais & Chateau! Just stayed one night on our way to Austria. Great dinner. We were there on a cold, October night and it is odd there isn't a little cozy bar area. But in summer it would be terrific. We had been sailing in Croatia so a... More
