The oldest hotel in Norway on a great location in a lovely town. Very well maintained in the main old section with new addition facing the fjord. The food is very good though odd service hours. I believe dinner doesn't start 'till 7 pm and breakfast isn't served 'till 8 am. The breakfast buffet is very nicely done. Stayed only... More

Spent one night here and wish we'd been able to spend at least 2! The Walaker is located on the waterfront in a quiet little village on the Sognefjord. The garden is just beautiful and a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the ambience of this gorgeous place or if it's raining you can sit on the front verandah instead.... More

The Walaker Hotel history dates back to 1640 and has been proudly run by the same family since 1690. I agree with some of the other reviewers, in that in this day and age, the hotel (which started out as an Inn) falls somewhere between a hotel and a B&B. We stayed two nights in May and totally loved the... More

The location is fabulous, the rooms (we were in an historic room) were just perfect, the food was great (possibly the best breakfast spread I've ever seen in a small hotel) but the people really made this place. Enthusiastic owners (rightly proud of their extraordinary history) and charming, discreet, nothing-is-too-much-trouble young staff. We were there in May, a bit of... More

A lovely little hotel with lots of history beautifully situated on the Sognefjord. Massive choice of local produce for breakfast. Fabulous 3 course dinner. We stayed in the old post office annex. We took the ferry from outside the front door to the other side of the fjord and cycled the 75 km around the fjord back to the hotel.

This is an accumulative review based on visits over a four year period from 2011-2015, and is my first review on any website but this hotel deserves a review. Walaker is truly an exeptional experience, and is by far the best hotell in Norway to my knowledge. The venue is spectacular and the atmosphere is rather unique for Norway. We... More

A lovely setting in a sleepy little village on the waters edge. The staff were very helpful. Our room was comfortable and everywhere was spotlessly clean. We had a fabulous evening meal here and had a huge choice for breakfast. If you are fortunate enough to have a front room the view is stunning. The owner gave us a tour... More

If you have not been to Solvorn and Walaker hotel yet, do not hecitate. This is my best hotel experience ever. This fantastic cousy little place by the Lustrafjord is nothing but stunning. The food and their wine cellar are a must try. The hotel is the oldest hotel in Norway and run by the 9th familly generation!

Other than the rather weird experience of sleeping in what must have been a servants room in the building adjacent to the main hotel this has to be in any list for the ultimate in simplicity, charm and downright peacefulness. If you go anywhere in the middle part of Norway then you need to spend 2 or 3 nights here... More
