4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Owned and operated by the same family since the 17th century, the historic part of the hotel is very well decorated with period furniture, tile and wallpaper. We were in room #19 overlooking the garden. It was a deluxe room with a couple of chairs for seating but otherwise not impressive. Small bathroom with very small, though pretty, shower, but... More

The Walaker is literally down the hill at the end of the road in Solvorn. It is a nice surprise! We had room 112 in the newer building, and it was very nicely appointed. There is a nice sitting area outside to view the fjord or the garden. Good sleeping, quiet and relaxed. The breakfast is excellent, and the staff... More

The Walker hotel is a beautiful old hotel and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the "newer building" which reminded me of staying in someone's garage, but the room was large, warm, quite and had heated floors in the bathroom. It also had a sliding door that led to a small "patio" with a nice... More

Yes, I am biased. I have been to Walaker Hotel before (2012) and loved it. This time around I was there for two days with my foreign-born wife (I am from Norway). My wife and I have travelled a fair bit and I am always nervous about hotels in Norway - at Walaker it is different: It is consistently good.... More

Was really torn between 4 and 5 stars, as it was a good stay in a comfortable place and the staff were very helpful and friendly. But the hotel was very pricey, most expensive we stayed at in our 2 week travel in Norway. The dinner was very expensive and this is the only hotel we stayed at that charged... More

We absolutely loved the family run Walaker Hotell. We stayed in the historical building and loved it. I have never had the opportunity to stay in such charming accomadations place. The dinner and breakfast were top notch and the hiking paths around the property breath taking.

If old world charm with excellent service and a five star chef is what you are looking for, then the Walaker is worth investigating. We took the whole "Rick Steves" experience to get here from Oslo (two trains, a boat and a car and 8 hours), but could have just as easily flown from Oslo or Bergen. The area is... More

We stayed at the Walaker for one night recently. We had 3 couples but there were only 2 rooms available. The hotel was able to accommodate us by putting one couple in another area on the property. The hotel is gorgeous - right on the water with a beautiful garden and old charm. The dinner was delicious. It is a... More

The historic part of the building likely has rooms that are charming, but the majority of so called "superior" rooms are located to the side of the property with a view of the car park in front of the ferry stop and would equate to a 3 star roadside motel in Australia. The food was well prepared and tasty but... More

Recently had a 3-night stay using the Walaker on the edge of a one of Norway's famous fjords as our home base to explore part of this beautiful country. We stayed in the 'new' area, I believe added to this historic hotel (circa 17th century) in the '60s, which the architecture demonstrates. Our room was comfortable and offered more than... More
