The hotel is an excellent place to stay. We both enjoy history and it doesn't get better than this and the view is great. The hotel has been in the family for many generations but Germany took it over for 5 years during World War 2. The breakfast is super. A special experience to enjoy all of the different food.... The Walaker is rightfully considered one of Norway's finest hotels. The rooms in the historic wings are exceptionally quaint and decorated to the highest of standards. The view is unparalleled and facilities more than adequate. Service is top notch, as is the food - you couldn't create a more romantic setting. Norway's oldest hotel is a little idyll set in... I would definitely recommend the Walaker. First off, Solvorn is a beautiful little village, and seems far removed from some of the other more touristy options in the area. The hotel is small, and the people who work there are friendly and run it very well. The meals were delicious (especially breakfast), and they provide a lot of good information... More

This must be close to heaven on earth! Personal service, excellent food and a tranquil athomsphere. Even the free WiFi was very fast for those needing access to the outside world. The fact that it is rurally based just add to the attraction. Can recomnend the apple just from a farm just up the road as an alternative to wine.

The staff was very kind, we had big room with a nice view and terrace where you can sit and enjoy the calm surrounding. The breakfast and dinner were amazing. We really enjoyed our stay. It was the 375th anniversary of the hotel and after dinner, the owner was speaking about the history of the hotel and it was very... More

The oldest hotel in Norway! But in a good way. The history is great and Ole Walker is representing his family well. He is a true gentleman and really makes this place special. If you want something more than just a hotel, stay here. You can't beat the charm, view, history, and company. Be sure to book the historic rooms.

The Walaker is located in a part of Norway that offers countless adventures for fantastic scenery. The property has been in operation by the same family since the late 1600s. The main building is the best appointed property I've visited in a long time. Charm, historic character. The food is delicious; well, beyond delicious. The staff is pleasant and helpful.... More

My husband and I stayed at the Walaker for 2 nights as a base for the Fjords. It absolutely is everything the picture book says it is. I am always worried about going where Rick Steve's posts due to the chaos of the crowds but it was nothing like that. We stayed in the main house, ate the dinner and... More

Upon check-in, we were offered a look at the available rooms so we could choose which one suited us. We had been driving a while and were ready to unwind with a glass of wine on the front porch overlooking the beautiful scenery. We were given a tasting of the available wines so we could purchase a bottle that we... More

The website does not do this property justice. This was a recommendation from our travel agent and on the website it looks a little uninspiring but it proved to be just a bad photograph. A lovely traditional hotel on the edge of the fjord. We had a room on the first floor overlooking fjord. The room was furnished in a... More
