Mr. Walaker, from a long line of hoteliers, is the perfect host. His pride in sharing the 9 generations of history is apparent. He went out of his way to make us feel welcome AND special. H. arranged massages for us at a nearby place. Food is INCREDIBLE, grounds are stunning and soooo relaxing; main home is stunning in detail.... More

5 stars is not sufficient for this hotel and the experience I had here. I would give them a galaxy! It has changed my grounds for comparison for all hotels for the future. Bare in mind that I arrived with high expectations. I expected this to be fantastic- and still they went over and beyond my expectations by far. Why?... More

We stayed 1 night in the modern building which has spacious, clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was excellent - typical Norwegian - but from local sources (apple juice, homemade jams, eggs, pate); pris fixe dinner included local venison or fjord fish. Tour of the gallery and brief history of Walaker and Solvorn as told by the 9th generation owner/proprietor. People... More

Perfect place to unwind on the peaceful Lustrafjord. Charming old hotel with spacious newer wing. Front desk service couldn't be better(sorry I forgot name of tall man with shaved head who wouldn't let us drive to the glacier until he called to make sure toll road was still open). Very picturesque and relaxing. Good restaurant.

If you want to stop..for more than sleep/eat. If you want history art, beautiful setting, charming srvicemind staff.A fantasy of a manager, who tell the story of the place, show you his art gallery..AND they have the most interesting artists! If you have a lucky day, the owner give a mini concert on his piano, in the attic!! Al gests... More

This hotel is magical. We had room 20 in the main house and awoke every morning to an unobstructed view of the fjord and the garden. The bed was the most comfortable that we had for our week plus excursion including Oslo and Bergen. The decor was very thoughtful and added to the charm, but was also extremely functional. The... Owned and operated by the same family since the 17th century, the historic part of the hotel is very well decorated with period furniture, tile and wallpaper. We were in room #19 overlooking the garden. It was a deluxe room with a couple of chairs for seating but otherwise not impressive. Small bathroom with very small, though pretty, shower, but... More

The Walaker is literally down the hill at the end of the road in Solvorn. It is a nice surprise! We had room 112 in the newer building, and it was very nicely appointed. There is a nice sitting area outside to view the fjord or the garden. Good sleeping, quiet and relaxed. The breakfast is excellent, and the staff... More

The Walker hotel is a beautiful old hotel and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the "newer building" which reminded me of staying in someone's garage, but the room was large, warm, quite and had heated floors in the bathroom. It also had a sliding door that led to a small "patio" with a nice... More

Yes, I am biased. I have been to Walaker Hotel before (2012) and loved it. This time around I was there for two days with my foreign-born wife (I am from Norway). My wife and I have travelled a fair bit and I am always nervous about hotels in Norway - at Walaker it is different: It is consistently good.... More
