We have stayed in several B&B during this trip across Ireland and the UK and the Carbre House is unquestionably the best of all. The house itself is beautiful and very well taken care of. Its old style and features are mantained fully but it has been restored to have modern conforts. One can see everywhere little details proving how... More

Stayed here for one night on a cycling trip. Convenient for a short walk to town centre . The gardens are wonderful - very relaxing. The host Brian made room in a shed for my bicycle. Yhe room was very comfortable and breakfast great. I will stay here again!!

This is an old house full of character, lovely, welcoming staff and delicious food all for €40 per person sharing! My breakfast was so beautifully presented, decorated with edible flowers from the garden that I took a photograph of it. It tasted even better than it looked! My bed was very comfortable and I had a great night's sleep. The... More

Recently I had the opportunity of a one day business trip to Dungarvan and was looking for something different from the usual hotels. Well did I hit the jackpot when I googled across Cairbre House. A lovely old house with loads of history and the comforts you would need and only a short walk to the town itself for dinner.... More

This is a small guest house perched beside the Colligan River with fine views across the estuary and the Comerach hills behind. There are two pretty gardens full of flowers and vegetables and a conservatory on the river edge. Brian Wickham is a great host, you will receive a warm welcome, offers of tea and coffee and cakes, copious maps... More

This is a period house which has charm and modern amenities. We arrived to this beautiful house and Katriona met us. We had coffee (real genuine coffee!) and biscuits and a chat in the guest lounge. Although there is tea/coffee facilities in the room, it was a lovely touch to have a welcome cuppa. Room was spotless, comfortable mattress and... More

Our host while we stayed was Catherine, she did everything possible to make us comfortable. Friendly and helpful, my wife and I instantly felt relaxed. Lovely house, beautifully furnished with incredible views of the famous comeragh mountains and tranquil estuary. Truly fantastic house, would highly recommend to all. Breakfast was a real treat, I felt like a king! Thanks Catherine

Built on the Colligan riverbank by the Duke of Devonshire as a cholera hospital, this building has served as a "Guest House" since early in the last century! Brian is a gracious host and helpful for visitors. I would see him, from my upstairs window, dashing out in the early morning mist, to his greenhouse, for fresh herbs, vegetables and... More

Cairbre House is more like a small country house hotel than a guesthouse. The decoration and furnishings have been chosen to complement the historic building - lovers of minimalist modern décor would perhaps find it dated, but we found it charming. The situation right on the river estuary is fantastic for birdwatchers, and although it is only ten minutes walk... More
