Cairbre House is more like a small country house hotel than a guesthouse. The decoration and furnishings have been chosen to complement the historic building - lovers of minimalist modern décor would perhaps find it dated, but we found it charming. The situation right on the river estuary is fantastic for birdwatchers, and although it is only ten minutes walk... More

Cairbre House is charming, with attractive gardens located right next to the the tidal Colligan River. The little terrace at the side of the house is ideal for watching the birds on the mudflats at low tide. There was plenty of bird activity, even in August when we were there, including black-tailed godwits. The house is only 10-15 minutes walk... More

Brian was a terrific host. He makes breakfast a special experience with its gentile table settings, tasty food made special using his own homegrown herbs; and his wish to please. Our room was comfortable with a garden view. We loved its proximity to town. We rented bikes from Willie of Lismore Cyclery. Highly recommended.

I had two nights in Dungarvan researching family history and earlier reviews highly recommended Cairbre house. (former 19th century Dungarvan hospital) Travelling by public transport all over Ireland, I like to stay in a place that is at least a few minutes walk from where I had my evening meal. Cairbre house has a very polite and knowledgeable assistant by... More

What a lovely place to stay. A great host who kindly offered us a lift to the Tannery as we were running late for our reservation. Very comfortable room with lovely views and a really great breakfast which set us up for the day. Thanks Brian.

This hotel is amazing. Found it when flicking through the Ireland guide we brought before we came. We are staying here as a pit stop between Rosslare and Kerry, we are on our honeymoon with our 9mth old daughter. From the moment I started emailing the owner I could tell he was lovely. Very accommodating with our requests to arrive... More

A mature couple touring Ireland with not a lot pre-planned we took the advice of an acquaintance who is a relative of Brian: we were fortunate that there was a room available. We were offered our choice of two rooms and were brought a welcoming afternoon tea. The rooms are lovely, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The breakfast is 5... More

Have stayed in Brian's house 3 times now. Always a warm welcome. If you are looking for a comfortable B&B in a great location for touring Co. Waterford and beyond, this is it. And he does a great breakfast.

This is probably the nicest B&B I've ever stayed in. Spent a weekend here recently and it was wonderul. Great location at the edge of a lovely scenic town. The best breakfast I've ever had - no exaggeration. I particularly liked the fresh herbs and veg from the garden. Brian is a great host and couldn't be nicer. Great value... More
