My husband and I traveled to Italy to celebrate our anniversary with a wonderful tour company in Connecticut, Andiamo Tours. We were absolutely thrilled with this cozy, charming hotel in Montalcino. Talk about a room with a view! Truly sensational. When you think, "Tuscany," this is what comes to mind. The staff was warm and helpful, the breakfast delicious and... More

As soon as we walked into the room we were amazed by the view of the entire valley. We ended up sleeping with the door open and woke up to the most amazing sunrise. The breakfast spread was pretty outstanding as well. I heard the pool had a wonderful view as well, however, we were there mid/late Oct. and it... More

I arrived in town without a reservation on a busy weekend and this was the only place that had a room and I got their last. After the first night I rebooked and stayed for a second. The hotel is old and fairly original but the room was still quite nice and also clean. Staff were very friendly and welcoming... More

Sadly this place has had its day. Worn and old and in desperate need of a lick of paint. That said the most amazing views from the rooms which if you wanted to stay in your room would be worth it. We booked in last minute with the local tourist board who told us it was the last room in... More

Great Hotel, not just for the stunning views over the Tuscany country. Situated on the edge of Montalcino with easy access to the town. We were made welcome from the offset. Receptionist was friendly and quick to help. We stayed two nights on a walking tour of Tuscany. The room was large, but the shower area was small. No tea... More

Nice place overall. We've stayed in a very nice 2-story room which bathroom needed some renovation though. Good breakfast, with a decent savoury choice made of good local products. Nice pool with stunning view on the valley. A young receptionist really made the difference: she's been very helpful, patient, nice and caring. Free parking even if a bit far.

This was the favorite hotel of our Italy trip. The view from the rooms on the back are absolutely breathtaking. Our room was large, clean and very comfortable with its own balcony. The hotel is perfectly located for walking around the town, taking driving trips into the surrounding countryside or staggering back to your room after sampling brunellos at the... More

The views from the rooms at the back of the hotel are the real highlight of this place - uninterrupted views out over the rolling Tuscan hills and a great place to watch the sunrise. We had a room split over 2 levels down by the pool (which is lovely). Bathroom and wardrobe, fridge, etc downstairs and bed upstairs. We... More

This was one of the best small hotels I stayed at during my trip to Tuscany. The view from the rooms is absolutely amazing as the town sits 500 m over river valleys that surround it. In addition to comfortable rooms, the hotel has a large outdoor patio area, a pool, and several indoor rooms to lounge about in. Breakfast... More

We are so glad we decided to spend our 30th anniversary at Hotel Dei Capitani. We arrived late on Sunday and the front desk parked our car in the loading zone over night instead of requiring us to park in the designated lot (the lot is at the top of a steep hill about 1/4 mile from the hotel). The... More
