Il Giglio is a charming little hotel in the heart of Montelcino, a charming little town. The views from the breakfast room as well as some of the rooms was outstanding. Our room had great views of the countryside and looking down onto a quiet side street. The room was a good size with a couple of chairs to sit... more

I spent 2 nights at Il Giglio Hotel and found it to be very charming and cozy. Some reviewers complained of unfriendly staff, but I found them to be a very nice local family. The grandkids were running around (and well behaved), they were all very attentive to my needs and very helpful during my stay. The owner even came... more

Montalcino is a great location...easy walking through the town center with nice restaurants and good wine. This hotel is located in a nice part of the town center...the rooms are beautiful stone and travertine tile in the bathrooms is so beautiful. The hotel has many lovely plants in all sections which add to the charm...the breakfast has very very good... more

Though it was difficult to find driving through the narrow and winding streets, we decided to park the car and walk to find the hotel. That seemed to be the easiest thing to do driving through Italy and looking for hotels in the small towns. Michele, the owner parked the car for us in a town lot after arriving at... more

This place was wonderful and the customer service was exceptional! I feel compelled to write this review in response to some of the (in my opinion) overly negative reviews here on TripAdvisor. My wife and I went on our honeymoon in October 2008. The Albergo Il Giglio was the final stop on our two week trip and it was a... more

Hotel Il Giglio is a lovely hotel - beautifully decorated room, lovely tiled bath, and gorgeous view. I had read that the owners were not "warm." Both were very nice. The husband parked our car after we unloaded the luggage, and was our waiter at dinner. The wife speaks minimal english, which is much better than I can say for... more

This was a disappointment. The hotel is well located, near the main square. However there is really nothing we can recommend after that. The booking experience was poor; arrival was like a bucket of cold water - really poor experience at reception. The staff were unfriendly and uninterested in being helpful about the town. Our room was small, cramped, and... more

My wife & I had passed thru Montalcino before, and loved the town, but had never stayed there. What a delightful place! A small hill town, that makes some of the best red wine on the planet (Brunello) and yet everyone was so unassuming and nice. Beautiful old buildings and great for walking around. The Fortezza was my favorite -... more

We stayed here quite a while ago. It was November of 2006. The place was actually quite beautiful. I liked the rooms. I like the location. I read a review before I left that the two older owners were rude. I thought to myself, how bad could it be? We won't be there often. Well it really affected our trip.... more
