This is a really nice hotel and whilst on the edge of the town it doesn't matter because the town is small. In fact its a bit of an advantage as it means it has great views. The one bed room (there is only one) is good value. Whilst the room is small it has a door opening on to... more

Tuscany is amazing and this small hotel built into the wall of the hilltop town of Montalcino really embodies the whole Tuscan experience! The grounds are beautiful with a small pool that overlooks the countryside and provides a great place to sit and enjoy a glass (or bottle) of wine in the evening and meet other guests. There is also... more

We stayed here 1 night in July, visiting the winery Banfi. We couldn´t loved it more. The personal, small and beatiful relaxing hotel with a wonderful view in the garden/pool area. I felt like home just I stepped in and taking a shower with an open window enjoying the stunning view was fantastic! ;0) We also used the pool after... more

This is a charming B&B with a great location just outside the tiny city of Montalcino. Location: The town is so small it's hard to imagine a bad location. This one was very very convenient, just as you enter the walled area and with a private parking area. Even though technically on the main road to town, there is a... more

We spent 4 days in April 2008 in the charming town of Montalcino and the stay at the Hotel Vecchia Oliviera made it all the more special. The staff was great, room immaculate and a great view of the country with a beautiful sunrise. If we ever go back to Tuscany we would positively stay here again. more

My wife and I spent 4 comfortable nights at the Vecchia Oliviera, a converted olive mill situated at one of Montalcino's old city gates, as you approach Montalcino from Buonconvento or San Quirico. Its location gives a commanding view across the Val d'Orcia. The hotel has its own parking lot, so you can avoid driving the narrow streets of the... more

The Vecchia Oliviera is the perfect place to stay in Tuscany! It is right at the edge of the beautiful town of Montalcino and has unbelievable views and the most pleasant and delightful staff. They gave us great recommendations for dinner, wineries, towns to tour, and directions. The room was nice in size, clean and comfortable and the entire stay... more

This is a very charming little hotel, but I HIGHLY recommend that you be very clear what room you are getting when making reservations. Rooms 1, 2 & 3 are awful. They have no view (particularly Room 1), are close to the street with substantial traffic noise and the roof of the three rooms is a patio, so if anyone... more

If you're into red wine, Montalcino is like Mecca. It is in the heart of the best red wine country in Italy and the town itself is an ancient walled fortress city. The hotel Vecchia Oliviera is located just inside one of the ancient city gates and has a panoramic view of the rolling Tuscan hillsides below. Words cannot accurately... more

Hotel Vecchia Oliviera is a delightful 13 room hotel (B&B). It was easy to get to, the room was beautiful, and large by Euorpean standards. The desk staff were extremely helpful and all spoke English. The Town of Montalcino is a hidden treasure and the hotel is a two minute walk to the town center. We had the pleasure of... more
