Everything about Masseria Rossella delighted us - the grandeur of the surrounding hills and valleys, the peaceful beauty of the buildings and gardens and the comfort of our accommodation. All the staff are friendly and helpful and the plentiful, home-cooked food is delicious. We had hired a car and were able to visit Cefalu, Selinunte, Palermo, Caccamo, Monreale and Sciacca... More

The most stunning location and setting - a real Sicilian retreat. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and they and the buildings and garden have an old world charm about them which is hard to resist. As do the wonderful home-cooked local dishes and in generous quantities. It is the perfect place to stay if you love being in... More

This is such a lovely agrotourismo, but you should be willing to be out in the country, in a beautiful, peaceful Sicilian setting. Its not a long trip to some very nice attractions, but its not on a subway line... The rooms are small but lovely and well appointed. The courtyard, with a nice bottle of Sicilian wine in the... This was our last stay after two weeks of wandering around the island and it was perfect! Eventhough it was an adventure to find it in the middle of the night :). We loved the peace and quietness! Just what we needed at that time. The room was stylishly decorated. The whole building is a true wonder. So beautifull. The... More

WAY OFF TH GRID!!! NO (few) AMENITIES!!! Except a bidet, and breakfast 8AM and dinner 8PM (25 Euro's)... Built in 1812 Masseria Rossella is an old hunting camp which is now a working dairy farm. It is like stepping back in time. The karaf on your dinner table is filled from a cask with local earthy dry purple wine reeking... More

Nestled amongst the heroic rocky mountains outside Palermo this idyllic farmhouse courtyard (complete with private chapel) offers the perfect hermitage from the rest of humming Sicilan life. Be warned though: the farm's situated quite some way down a dirt track, the meal portions are HUGE and the courses keep on coming, the people are lovely and due to altitude it's... More

Masseria Rosella is a two century old coutry house, built by a prince. He certainly choose the right spot for his palace like farm house, because the surrounding landscape is beautiful. We were welcomed very cordially, the rooms were good and quiet and the meals were tasteful. The atmosphere gave us an impression of paradise.

What an oasis of calm after the bustle of Palermo. We were not sure how to find it but there were special road signs and finally one with a little arrow, so no probs there. The buildings looked rather unprepossessing as you drove along the track but were really beautiful once you entered the gate into the grassy courtyard. Bedroom... More

This is situated south of Palermo in the most beautiful countryside, ideal for exploring on foot, bike or to go sightseeing to places such as MontReale, the northern or southern coast of west Sicily etc. It is an old building set on four sides of a grassy garden area with huge shade-giving trees. The rooms in a block are well... More

Beautiful property - but has management problems. Son runs the property but when he's not there you have to deal with parents, who conveniently don't speak English if you have a problem. Supposedly a slow-food restaurantg but the food is not good. Also on the cooking school circuit - again not a good deal. In fact, AVOID the cooking school,... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to untouched countryside. The history: Once upon a time there was a King, who fleeing for his life from his home town, was in search of a place where he could fulfill his passion for hunting. It was the end of the eighteenth century and the King was King Ferdinand III of Borbone. Fleeing from Naples he chose to settle in Palermo and while looking for a place to build his own hunting lodge, he came across the monumental and impressive Busumbra Rock and was ecstatic. It was by his wish that 30km south of Palermo, at the foot of the Busambra Rock, that an imposing royal lodge was built ... ... more   less
