My partner and I returned today from Italy via a Shearings holiday. Upon arrival, like other guests, we assumed it was quite a grand place. And actually , unlike others previously, we only had to wait between 1 and 2 hours for our room (I asked for it as I was feeling extremely dizzy and unwell). The (Scottish) receptionist was... More

I went with Archers and paid a lot of money for I week stay. Discovered most other guests (Shearings) paid a lot less. My room was OK at front of hotel with a lovely balcony. The room was not large - door almost hit off bed when you opened it and the toilet was miniscule. After a shower you had... More

Having just returned from this hotel I will tell it like it was. At check in which was very busy, we were met by people checking out who told us to find another hotel, not what you want to hear. Got key to our room on the 6th floor, not with a balcony, but with a mountain view at the... More

Although the hotel looked splendid when guests arrived there were some issues to point out. Single rooms are exceedingly disappointing. My one was an internal room looking down into one of the lounge areas ,was very dark with no view of outside at all so on waking I had no idea at all of the weather outside! Extremely depressing! The... More

This hotel must at one time lived up to its name. Sadly under its present ownership it's going down hill fast. Biggest issue is the food, very canteen, not what one expects from a hotel in Italy. The cooked breakfast left much to be desired. The residents rush for meals resembles a rugby scrum. Their are just too many guests.... More

Having read all the reviews both good and bad we went with an open mind! This hotel caters for 600+ people, The dining room is like an institutional dining room. Long tables in rows! The self service area is small and, at busy times, it is a bun fight! The food is not good, same starters for at least 4... More

We Have just returned and the weather was good we upgraded to platinum with lake view and balcony although only on the first floor it wasn't that noisy and was not disappointed. the lido restraunt we tended to use for lunch but the pool restraunt presented a meat fest each time we went on the evening, service was good and friendly... After reading many conflicting reviews of this hotel, my husband and I decided that as the holiday wasn't costing a fortune (as I believe some people paid) we would book the hotel and keep an open mind. We did upgrade our room to a deluxe lake view with balcony and was not disappointed. The room was serviced everyday, there was... More

I booked my stay at this hotel 3 months ahead. I would like to stay there for the weekend (2 nights) and asked for lake view (and was paying more for that) After exchanging many emails with the reception, 1 day before I arrived I wrote saying I had to change my flight and would arrive late in the evening... Bellagio is arguably one of the prettiest towns in Northern Italy : perched on Lake Como with the sun all day that's make it a very busy and thus pricey destination. Check out the ferries and Granite di Cadenabbia : day trip to Bellagio and stay in a wide range of hotels. The Britannia is a value for money 3... More
