The hotel is very well located to the old town in a very quiet environment. The breakfast is very very poor, rooms are very small and beds are unconfortable. The price is significantly high compared to quality, I would recommend to stay at city center. The german lady which owns the property tries everything to not letting you use your... More

Stayed for a week in June. Very nice little hotel very clean and tidy. Breakfast was very good - loved the yoghurt and fruit and fresh orange, great selection of other things. Staff very helpful and efficient. Beautiful courtyard to sit and relax in. Overall a great chill out place came back feeling very relaxed. More

The Cava D’ Oro hotel strives to be quaint, convenient and reasonably priced. It succeeds, but does not exceed. We asked for a first floor room in the main hotel because previous guests did not like the annex or the steep steps in the main building. Our punishment was lots of traffic and noise on the first floor, front side.... More

We (thankfully) didn't experience the issues recorded here by other travellers. The Cava d'Oro is in a good location and, helpfully, is accesible by car (you have to park outside the city walls, but can enter to drop your luggage off at the hotel. Taxis can also pull up right outside). The rooms were small but comfortable with air conditioning.... More

We had 2 cockroaches in our room which might have explained the chemical smell (insecticide?). When the German female owner was informed the next morning, she denied knowledge of vermin and said the smell would be from a mosquito repellent device. Having just read earlier reviews other guests have also shared a room with cockroaches. Had she been more concerned... More

My summary of this place: reasonably priced, good location, decent breakfast, small rooms and bed, efficient service but without a smile... Cava D Oro hotel is a small, reasonably cheap hotel which is in a good location in a quiet part of the old town. I was in a party of 4 people who stayed there in October 2009 (shoulder... More

Small hotel at far end of the Old Town. Charming and clean but bring your own soap and shampoo as none is provided. Lights out around 11 pm and you'll be shooed out of the common areas. Probably not for everyone. No big complaints. Nice breakfast buffet. More

Cava D'Oro is an excellent hotel in a fabulous location in Old Rhodes Town. Our room was lovely and the bathroom was exceptionally modern and clean. The room is small, but it is expected in Europe and there is a lovely courtyard to sit and relax. The breakfast buffet was very nice with lovely baked goods. Excellent value for the... More

We know Michael Palin stayed there, as this was emphasised by Brigid the owner and it appears that she trades on this. The actual Cava d'Oro hotel looks fantastic but we never managed to see one of its rooms as we were trundled up the road to an "annexe" and had to negotiate two flights of stairs, one of which... In early May, we were booked into the “Cava d’Oro” by a Rhodes travel agent, but the hotel was apparently full, so we were then booked into the ‘annex’ – the “Atha Hotel” (same owner), a hundred metres, or so, down the street. From the overnight ferry, we checked in at breakfast time - to a rather cold, unfriendly, reception.... More
