We had the most dreadful experience at this hotel, we stayed in room 11, which was a four poster, from stained loos, tatty towels, no toiletries, no kettle, and as far as the courtyard it was filthy, couldn't possibly stay the second night due to no sleep... Obviously if you like roughing it for 186€ for a nights stay this... More

A La Cour de France Chambres d'hotes (previously the Hotel de France) is ideally situated in this delightful town. The 17th Century historic building has a charm of its own, unblighted by inappropriate "modernisation". The somewhat eccentric decor is matched by the special atmosphere consistently created by Janie and Patrick Harpur. Thus we have returned to stay at this great... More

The hotel is very ancient but with the most amazing character, the food was delicious and the staff and owners attended to our every need. I loved the building it was just clouded in history that's what gives it it's character overall a fantastic hotel

This hotel is charming, unique and amazing! The owners are extremely welcoming and laid back. Nothing was too much trouble for them including showing the England football game at midnight. We stayed her for one night and we were delighted with our find. From the stunning courtyard to the living area which is bursting with character and the quirky bedrooms.... More

If you have a sense of history and you like Bohemian surroundings you will absolutely love this hotel. A really proper coaching inn, with cobbled courtyards and corridors that feel like you'll bump into D'Artagnan round the next corner. Comfortable, atmospheric and very very friendly - Janie and Patrick simply couldn't be more relaxed and welcoming hosts. And the location... More

If you're looking for a hotel with bundles of history, atmosphere & oozing with character, then come here! Janie & Patrick are two very accommodating proprietors who welcome you the minute you arrive. We stayed again at Le Coq during the weekend of 14-17 March, as on many previous visits to this walled town, There was no sign of life at Hotel de France and it continues to look very run down with major repairs to the exterior seeming to be needed. Two photos show it is up for sale. Whether it ever... More

This is a response to Mr Alan Reynolds who posted a review stating the hotel looked closed. This is just to confirm the hotel was closed, so it was a very insightful review. We take our annual break and opened up on the 16th April for Easter as we have done for the last 10 years. The hotel is not... More

My friend and I stayed at the Hotel de France for 2 nights in late November 2013. True, it was not my first visit to this hotel but again I was reminded what a lovely place to stay it is, the bedrooms and the downstairs reception/bar being so wonderfully full of character and charm, likewise the proprietors Janie and Patrick.... We stayed here for two nights on the 29th & 30th November. The owners, Janey and Patrick are great hosts and made us feel very welcome. We had a delicious and flavoursome three course meal in their restaurant, followed by drinks back at the bar where Janey played 70s and 80s music - it became a very nostalgic and fun... More
