We stayed at this hotel during Easter 2008. We have been to Penang countless times over the years, and the last four times we stayed at the Golden Sands which is a fantastic hotel. However, due to the Golden Sands only having family rooms with hillside views, we decided to try something new as we had heard the family rooms... More

Parkroyal Penang is a rather large hotel with great services and food. Breakfast choice was very impressive. The Spa we had two bookings for facials and massages. Both services were relaxing and very enjoyable albeit not cheap. Pool was lovely and very clean. The cafe Cool Bananas served excellent food for day snacks. Staff very polite and helpful. We asked... We stayed there with family over Christmas . Originally we had booked a family room but were upgraded on arrival to a junior suite which was great. The hotel has undergone renovation in recent years and is a good reasonably priced beach resort for this area. The buffet breakfast was excellent and food in general in the hotel was of... More

Nice enough hotel but, all in-house prices for drinks and food are very expensive. Hillview rooms are plain in decor (very Australian) and the hallways reek of 2nd hand cigarette smoke. The Staff are friendly if somewhat unwilling to negotiate on upgrades or extras. The lobby bar/lounge is nice but too costly to stay too long. Tours are expensive, informative... More

I was there for over three nights. It is a lovely place, the grounds are gorgeous. But the room was a tad old, and mine faced a mosque, so be be prepared to wake with the morning prayers. Service was a problem because I don't speak Malay, and it seems that the staff - esp the ones from the restaurant... More

Before I start this review, I would like to clarify that we are a very ordinary couple who have travelled quite a lot over the years and don’t expect to find facilities such as we have in the UK. I read the Trip Advisor reviews extensively and decided that the hotel and resort were what we were looking for as... More

Please read this review before booking this hotel. We booked with Thomsons thinking this would be a nice hotel. What a big mistake. When we arrived after a 15 hour trip we had to wait 3 hours in winter clothing in 30c heat, before we were given our room keys. The room we book was meant to have hillside view,... More

Every night a terrible band plays to an empty lobby that every room in the hotel can hear until midnight. Dated rooms with hard beds. Beach not nice or safe for kids with quad bikes, para sailing and horses making it too dangerous. Murky water full of jet skis and boats. Charged my credit card $5000 by accident- major dramas... We originally had booked Thailand but decided to go to Penang instead. The hotel is nice, with a view of some sort from most rooms. The pool is very nice and relaxed. The night markets are right at the hotel so it is very easy to find them. I had some trouble with one of my molars, but other than... More

we stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in Dec 2008. It was the worst experience of my life. The hotel was okay - location is reasonable and the room was acceptable standard. But the service was horrendous. In all of my travels this was the worst service in a 5 star hotel. Whenever I asked for anything it took... More
