We live in PNG and took a long weekend staying at this secluded resort on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. It's remote, unspoilt, charming, peaceful and relaxing. The reception, dining area and cabins are set on a hillside overlooking the ocean and shoreline reefs. A short walk down to the sea takes you to the outdoor pool, dive shop... More

Tawali resort is were the rainforest meets the sea in a remote area that is a flight to gurney airport then picked up by the resort bus for a 1 1/2 hr drive up to the boat then a boat ride to your destination. All rooms have a view the bungalows are nice but basic not bad for png if... More

We arrived with no idea what we would find - and not expecting much - the resort is remote and surrounded by jungle. Built out of timber in various stages of decay - nothing lasts more than 2 years - it is a constant job to keep ahead of the rot! Having said that the rooms are spacious and very... More

Accessible only by plane, bus and boat trip your travel to resort sets the tone for Tawali...you are away from it all. On arriving you are treated by a pretty house reef and beautiful backdrop of rainforest . Resort is just only just visible tucked away in the trees. Staff are warm and genuinely interested in ensuring you are enjoying... More

After spending some time in the grim and dangerous Port Moresby, Milne Bay Province and especially Tawali were a striking contrast. Alotau is safe, the bus trip to the boat that takes you to Tawali is fascinating, and first impressions of Tawali itself were even better than I had expected. This place is truly an unspoiled paradise. The view from... More

Paradise for divers and snorkelers but also a fantastic place to just chill out or involve yourself in the numerous other activities. Access is via a 50 min flight from Port Moresby to Alotau then 1 1/2 hour bus ride(resorts bus) around the bay and a 15 min boat ride to the resort. The drive is scenic through coastal villages.... This place is secluded but definitely well worth the extra effort to get there. This was my first ever trip over to Tawali, and I will definitely be back. So many amazing dive sites to choose from and snorkelling right on the door step, plus numerous other activities for non-divers on offer that immerse you in the local culture. The... More

Spectacular diving for a land-based destination. Tops my liveaboard trips in the Great Barrier Reef and Indonesia. Exceptional biodiversity of numerous dive sites. I managed 23 dives over the 10 day round trip; and night dives were also on offer. Extremely knowledgeable dive guides, selflessly and eager to point out camouflaged critters and miniature marine life on ever single dive.... More

This place is out there, but once you arrive it's well worth the effort required to get here. The Resort is secluded. It's an hour and a half drive from the airport and then a fifteen minute boat ride along the coast to the resort. For divers there is a full service dive shop for your rental needs. We only... More

What a hidden gem! Some of the best diving and snorkeling I have ever done, right on the door step. The resort melts into the natural surroundings so well it feels like you are in your own jungle retreat. The staff are so friendly and make you feel so welcomed. Close by there is so much to explore and delve... More
