We have just spent a couple of nights at the Adventure Lodge - we did the Freedom package and (attempted) to do the Tongariro Crossing. Lorraine was brilliant helping us plan our trip, and giving us loads of useful local information. Unfortunately we couldn't complete the crossing because of bad weather but Lorraine then gave us excellent advice on a... More

13 of us stayed with family and friends with children from ages 6 through to 15. We used the lodge and had a mixture of rooms, family room for 5 people, x2 double plus single beds and a twin room. The lodge was excellent for budget accomodation ($110 per 5 in a family room with shared facilities) The service here... More

We were given a very warm welcome and found our room to be very nice, comfy bed, good shower. From the minute we arrived we were looked after so well. We were very well briefed for the walk and were given instructions about what time we would be setting off the following day. We were given a good cooked breakfast... More

While I highly recommend the Tongariro Crossing and Lorraine was exceptionally helpful and friendly in organizing our hike and making sure the lunches were just right, I can't recommend staying at the Lodge. Our room was not clean or comfortable (chunks of food under the beds, disgustingly stained sheets, paper thin walls with snoring neighbors, poor mattresses with insufficient room... More

Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry your budget accommodation was not what you expected; the booking was made for a budget family lodge room from your travel agent, with shared bathrooms - not an ensuite family unit, this was peak time and we could not accommodate you elsewhere. I am not sure what your travel agent charged you,... More

My husband and I got the luxury crossing package which was excellent value. This included two breakfasts, a packed lunch, transfers to and from the crossing and a delicious dinner after the hike. The staff were very friendly and helpful and everything was run very efficiently. Our room was very spacious and clean. If you are staying for a few... More

Divided into lodge and motel. We stayed in the motel. Not only clean and comfortable, but had a kitchen (good for preparing food for mountains etc) and was reasonably priced. Family run, very friendly and VERY useful local knowledge of Tongariro/ Ngaruhoe/ Ruapehu - they also run their own bus service to either end of the crossing. They drop you... More

I stayed at the Adventure Lodge with 5 other friends. Lorraine was wonderful and accommodated me and my friends for a very low cost: meals taken care of, and sandwiches were made for our hike across the Tongariro, we had nice dorm-style lodging with comfy beds. Shuttle was a service offered too for extra cost; it left as promised at... More

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you had to wait but as the other 4 members of your group were late for the last pick up so we had to rearrange the shuttles and send out an extra shuttle to accommadate them, there was no extra charge for this extra service. In total we sent 3 shuttles out... More

I organised Tongariro Crossing Packages with Adventure Lodge for myself and two friends. I very much recommend this package, especially to anyone who is solely going to this part of NZ to do the Tongariro Crossing and want to do it low budget and low fuss. We came down from Auckland after work and all we had to do was... More
