The Adventure Lodge is a great place to stay when exploring Tongariro National Park. It is close to the visitor center, the chateau and all three mountains in the park. The room was nice and clean with a kitchenette. A full breakfast was also included in our rate. The owners had all sorts of information to share about locations used... More

We had to try this spot again to make sure it was as good as we'd thought a year ago... and it was. Run by great people, it was all we needed in a national park setting. Room was quiet, clean and very comfortable, with a microwave and basic kitchen and a fantastic shower, complete with large towels. Heating was... More

Usually a little nervous about motel style accommodation, I didn't have high expectations and was thrilled to have them so thoroughly exceeded. Jason was simply the perfect host - solicitous, entertaining but never intrusive. The accommodation was cosy and spotless. I took foreign guests and felt I had given them the best sort of Kiwi experience. And the steak was... More

We had such a great time here and wished we could have stayed longer! We will definitely be back. Jason, the son of the owners, took great care of us- from waiting up for us to arrive late at night to check in to making sure we had everything we needed for the Tongariro Crossing. We booked into one of... More

A ski lodge which offers an absolutely perfect Tongariro Crossing experience. Great value for money! The room was basic but very adequate - we were there for the experience, not the chocolates on the pillow, after all. We had a double room, two breakfasts, a very filling packed lunch, a fantastic steak dinner, and transport to and from the Crossing... More

Accommodation was superb. Clean and comfortable. Location is very convenient if you want to do the tongariro crossing and there's a great pub just down the road. The only let down was the male reception staff who seemed to make a lot of side comments which were quite rude and tactless.

It’s not just the Tongariro Alpine Crossing that’s available here, but if that’s what you want to do, the Adventure Lodge and Motel will take care of you. We stayed at the motel for four nights on our holiday in North Island. This establishment is managed to perfection: extraordinary (friendly) efficiency at getting folk through the Crossing safely and fuss-free,... More

We ventured down from Auckland for the weekend of the 14 and 15 February being the first available weekend where we could get a room given it is peak season for the Tongiriro Crossing. We were able to make all enquiries over email which made things easier with work and Lorraine was very responsive. If you want an effortless weekend... More

We only stayed two nights and had one full day hiking. The motel caters to hikers and the owners seem to know all about what is available to do. We would probably enjoyed our stay more if the weather had been nicer. This has to be one of the windiest places in NZ. We had a lot of issues getting... More

You can't go wrong booking their tongariro package. The motel is located in the national park, they drive and pick up from the tongariro crossing, they organize food for you while you are there. All you have to do is turn up with your gear! The room was spacious and clean. The family owned business is run very well and... More
