Thank you very much! I really enjoyed my stay at the Crossing backpackers in Erua. Nice atmosphere, animals on the paddocks, cool tree in the games room and a sweet spa pool. =D I'll be back.to do the Tongariro Crossing =D.

I loved this hostel! We only stayed one night with the plan of doing the crossing in the morning (unfortunately the weather didn't permit). I was glad just to have experienced the hostel! There is loads of communal space with a kitchen, tv room & cinema room (which you enter through a wardrobe!!) and a Jacuzzi and pool tables. It... More

The Crossing Backpackers had very friendly serving staff who wandered around and were very approachable. The building was well equipped with facilities, a good sized kitchen and dining room, lots of showers and toilets. My only grumble was that they were having problems with the hot water and many of us had cold showers, but because of the excellent service... More

Hey, i never expected a hostel like this, is in the middle of nowhere but is awesome, is really nice the location and the place has definitely character, wood everywhere, plenty of space in the rooms, i loved the hidden tv room, pool table, hot tub (perfect after the Tongariro Alpine Crossing) and the really good summer deal 78$ 2... First of all, thank you to Bryan, Miriam and Robyn for your warm and welcoming hospitality. From the moment I made my group booking the day of arrival, everything was a breeze. Turning up at 10pm to a personalised note and directions to our room we settled in before we took on the mighty Tongariro. This is the best place... More

Awesome hostel with a real family feel. Bryan really went out of his say to make my stay amazing and I'm really glad I chose this place. He helped me rent a bike one day and drove me to the top of Ruapheu. He even lent me swimmers so I could use the hot tub after four days of hard... More

If you are exploring the National Park area or walking the Tongariro crossing, this is where you should stay. Huge, great facilities, clean, lovely staff and cheap! Make sure you get a tour of the hostel when you arrive. There are hidden treasures :)

The Tongariro Crossing is iconic and well known enough but this hostel is the only place to stay while doing it. The staff are incredibly friendly and super nice, full of local knowledge to help you on your trip. The hostel itself is relatively simple but full of little touches that make it one of a kind. A movie room,... More

Even though we only stayed for a single night the Crossing Backpackers gave us an amazing experience unlike most usual hostels, offering a comforting atmosphere full of character, loads of things to enjoy and a very friendly staff that makes you want to extend your stay. It's also the best place to be in if your car breaks down. Definite... More

This was one of my favorite hostels in New Zealand. If you're looking for a full-featured hostel with the latest amenities... then you'll be disappointed. It's on a farm in the middle of nowhere in the national park, you're warned in the confirmation email to bring in your own groceries, laundry is exorbitantly expensive ($5 wash + $5 dry due... More
