Good Location as a base camp as to book up the Shuttle Bus is next door. The park is further away from the start of the Alpine Crossing but shorter on the finish - which in my opinion is good as you just want to get back after your trek. We decided to skip camping and stay in a cabin... More

We went there recently and were very pleased with the stay in the double room with en suite. The owners were both very friendly and helpful and kept the holiday park in good condition. The kitchen facility was a generous size with modern facilities which made this stay better value. The room was more than adequate for the both of... More

I enjoyed my stay here and thought the facilities were very nice. I have stayed in much more primitive parks, so was pleased with the amenities, especially the very nice group kitchen. Staff was fine with me and allowed me to stay a couple of hours past check out time to use the internet to catch up on some business... More

Good first impressions, friendly lady at the reception, and we were camping that night with gloomy weather headed in, so it was nice of her to recommend using certain tent spots where the water would drain better. Grass was cut nice and short and tent site in really good condition. Facilities were ok, bathrooms kind of weird being "new and... More

We stayed here as we thought it would be the nearest most convenient place to get to the Tongariro crossing. Wish we didn't. I am totally in agreement with some of the reviews below - I don't know whether because they're the closest national park in that area that they feel they can abuse their status and treat everyone like... This site had great facilities, especially the new showers, and the location is ideal for walking the day Tongariro Crossing hike. The kitchen gets really busy, as does the site as a whole, but we'd still recommend staying.

I can totally agree with the comments below on the behaviour of the owners. They abuse their position of being one of the only holiday parks in the area and deliver poor service. The so called 'new' shower facilities are falling apart already. The kitchen is way too small for the entire campsite. They aren't fond of the 'younger crowd'.... More

My cousin and I have been backpacking all around New Zealand and we have stayed at MANY holiday parks, including DOC sites and this is by far the WORST experience we had both ever had. We drove from napier to the tongariro national park to stay at the holiday park so we could wake up early and hike the tongariro... More

my partner and I arrived late after a 6 hour drive after work to the holiday park, only to be greeted by a very upset and rude staff member who then proceeded to scold us for driving our car in so late (11.30), then stormed off. The next morning upon checking out we told another staff member about our encounter... More

Very helpful & friendly staff! Basic and cheap rooms. Ablution block is under renovation. Shared kitchen small, crowded and very few pans and utensils (stolen?). Best for Tongariro Crossing. Fantastic transport and support! We enjoyed our stay and will go again.
