We knew this was gonna be the highlight of our trip and it only was confirmed. We were very much looking forward to the hut and in reality, the place was even better than on the pictures. Just imagine a little heavenly place on the top of a hill, that gets light first and last in the day, with an... More

Planned to do the Tongariro Crossing 2 mums and 3 girls - Dec 2011 - weather turned nasty so ended up doing the Taranaki Falls and the Tama Lakes instead. Still a great experience. . The Barn was fabulous - beautiful views and very cosy. Tim lit a fire for our return and was a perfect host. The homemade marmalade... More

The beautiful & perfect rainbow arching over the mountains and plains on our way to the Barn, was an amazing introduction to the serenity and beauty we would enjoy on our overnight stay there. The Barn is quaint and has been lovingly set up and maintained by it's Owners. It is well equipped with everything you would need. We communicated with... More

We stayed in the Hut for two nights in October with a view to doing the Tongaririo Alpine Crossing walk while we were there - as it happened the weather was not good so the walk was delayed, but on the plus side that meant we spent a bit more time than planned in the Hut, which was great fun.... The Hut at Wood Pigeon Lodge was a great find on our recent NI road trip. Tim had the fire going before we arrived so it was delightfully warm & cosy. He even delivered a weather forecast print out to our door early next morning! Loved the two friendly bearded collie dogs too. More

We stayed at in The Hut at the Wood Pigeon Lodge - let's start off with the stunning views, the very friendly host, Tim, and the beautiful, rustic accommodations. We did 2/3 of the Mt. Tongariro Crossing, and it was wonderful to come back to this uniqe hut. The setting is idyllic - we're talking beautiful farm landscape with a... More

We spent two nights in The Barn, whilst we did the Tongariro Crossing and this was probably one of my favourite places that we stayed in, in the whole of NZ. The barn is rustic and has a lovely secluded location. The additional things like the BBQ which we used every night and a washing machine (complete with powder) also... More

We spent 3 nights here last month, it took our breath away. The views from the hut window are incredible and the room has been done out beautifully to be atmospheric and cosy. We loved the wood burning stove, and you really feel you are away from everything. Strongly recommend doing the Tongariro Crossing, even though our legs hurt for... More

Stayed 2 nights Barn, 2 nights Hut - both kept very warm by log fires, with firewood invisibly restocked by host Tim throughout the day. Fires lit to welcome you on arrival. Beds comfy and warm, plenty of spare blankets/ duvets, towells etc. You may wake in the morning to twittering birds or a distant moo - charming and truly... More
