This beautifully maintained property has some of the best views of the region and is an excellent pit stop if you are travelling to/from Waitomo for the glow works or other related activities. The hosts were charming and extremely welcoming. The entire place was full when we stayed for one night and guests were travelling from around the world which... More

This is a pretty minimalist B&B made excellent by spectacular views, wonderful breakfasts, and charming hosts. Rooms are small, and sound proofing is indeed minimal, as other guests have noticed. We spent a memorable evening sitting under a tin roof eating pizza and drinking spectacular wine, listening to the rain wand watching the views change as the weather changed. We... More

"Approach with Enthusiasm" is the slogan they have on their sign at the bottom of the hill entering the Inn. I believe they placed it there to warn drivers of the near vertical grade driveway to the Inn, however I would enthusiastically give this B&B a 5 out of 5 for comfort and hospitality! The rooms are cute, the breakfast... More

My husband and I really enjoyed our two nights at the Abseil Inn. We stayed in the very cute Swamp Hen room and enjoyed soaking in the over-sized tub after our caving adventures. The breakfasts were great and we enjoyed the opportunity to taste John's collection of New Zealand honeys. Helen and John suggested two local restaurants; Huhu for dinner... More

My husband and I stayed there for a night during our honeymoon adventure. The inn is extremely homey feeling. The rooms are decent size and furnished very nicely. The bed was extremely comfortable and warm. The owners are welcoming and inviting. They were extremely kind during our visit. The breakfast was amazing. The waitomo eggs were delicious! So far Abseil... More

We stayed here while traveling with my parents and my parents-in-law, so we stayed in three different but equally comfortable and charming rooms. We made full use of the big table at which to play cards and relax in the evening. The breakfasts were the best ones we had in New Zealand--really outstanding. And the hospitality was unsurpassed. Absolutely a... More

My wife and I stayed one night at the Abseil Inn while doing the glow worm caves the next day. Helen and her husband were very nice and accommodating to our late arrival. The place was clean, but we did have a few cob webs and spiders in the room I had to clean up myself. However, breakfast was absolutely... More

We are very happy that you enjoyed our hospitality and breakfast. Yes indeed, my DaddyLongLegs are of most vigourous stock and can achieve a lot in 24 hours, despite my daily rearranging of them and their structures of silk. In this instance, due to a brief illness, I was unable to check your room that day. I decline to spray... More

I visited the Abseil Inn on my honeymoon in April. We stayed in the Farm Room and were extremely charmed by the decorations as well as the nice view outside. The Abseil Inn is within reasonable walking distance from the glowworm caves, as well as several adventure outfitters and our favorite restaurant in town, Huhu. Our breakfast in the morning... More

My wife and I stayed at Abseil Inn in April 2014 along with some overseas friends who were making their first visit to New Zealand. We wanted a place to stay that was close enough to Waitomo township to where we wouldn't have to drive far in order to make it to a morning cave tour. It was a good... More
