This is cheap back-packer style accommodation. We had the worst night's sleep we have ever had in a hotel. There was a loud party going on adjacent to our bedroom into the early hours of the morning. The curtains on our room did not close all of the way, and it let in bright light into our room. Tour busses... More

We stayed here one night in the "chalet" after the glowworm tour. I absolutely hated the room but for being so remote, hubby said it was sufficient. Paid for the internet card and couldn't get a signal in the room, had to use it in the "kitchen". Bed was hard and lumpy, which was okay. Just wished they had better... More

I stayed here for one night before we went Black Water Rafting and it was substantial. The rooms are big enough and the bathroom is suitable. If you're into five star, don't bother. It will only be bad for you if you're specific but if you have a few beers at Curly's, you're not going to care. There's not really... More

Stayed one night in a single room, rooms are average size, with only a sheet and thin blanket, so it was cold. Very little and not that cheap for what it is. Room had a double bed which was ok.It was very noisy at night as people came into the area.

We were given a twin room & it was perfect, the only issue we had was the radiator was very old & all you heard was the sound of dripping when you turned it on...other than that grey facilities & staff 😀 would come back again!

I can't believe my other half booked this without reading the reviews first.. Where to start? This was so bad I had to save off writing this review so that I could stay in a few other hostels and put this experience into perspective, as it has been several years since I have stayed in a hostel. I would also... More

I had one good night and one bad night here, so I guess it averages out. SINGLE: I had some good luck on the first night and was upgraded to a single (room 17) because the dorm was full. The bed was firm, but not too hard. The heater was adequate to warm the room (and dry socks on). DORM:... More

The after hours ( after 5pm ) manager is the "Grumpy Old man" owner of the bar next door "Curleys Bar" Some might find his attitude "quaint" me and my group of 24 found him justb rude , sexist , and grumpy. I was staying in his backpackers ( Kiwi Paka ) with a group of adult students - all... More

Had a single room. Room was decent size, bed was good and the heater worked well. Bathrooms were fine, there was a nice big kitchen with plenty of facilities to use. Staff were the highlight for me, very friendly and helpful. Close to the pub as well which was great when the rugby was on! This is a backpacker's after... More

This is quite literally the worst place I have ever stayed. Not just because it is dirty, dated and cold, but because it has an unfriendly feel. I have never had to pay to hire cutlery or plates to eat my dinner with (not what you want when you arrive at 9pm having informed them of your arrival time). The... More
