Well if you like hobbits you have to stay here. Don't expect luxury - it's great and quirky and functional. I have to say the donkey and the pig which appeared on the roof in the morning just added to the quirkiness. Easy to get to the village to access bars and restaurants / cafes - Fun!!!

We choose to stay at the Hobbit Hotel at Woodlyn Park during our trip to New Zealand. We had a fantastic time , a great place to stay to be away from the crowds of tourists. This hotel was a little more expensive than your usual hotel but it was worth it for the hobbit experience, nature, peace and quiet.... More

We spent one night in the tail of the airplane and one night in the Captains Suite of the ship. The plane was great. The kids loved the bunk beds and the queen bed was cool. There was a little bathroom and kitchen too. We were worried that it would be stuffy but the windows opened and there was air... More

We chose this place because it looked a bit different than your usual motel. Hmmm...more like quirky really! On arrival there was no one at reception just a note on the door saying that she was mowing the lawn and to give her a yell. We stayed in the "Waitanic" (the ship) in the Britanic room. On approach I thought... More

We were looking forward to a quaint stay at a "Hobbit" motel but much to our dismay it was more like a horror movie experience. As we made our way up a windy, gravel road hillside we get to the top of the property to see a rundown old building that was the "office". No one was there and there... More

Fact - This lady checked in and was in her Motel Unit for over two hours before re appearing at the office to tell us that she had a phone call from a friend in Auckland and asked if she could receive a refund so she could move on to stay in Auckland- to which the reply was "no" we... More

To clarify I have stayed in the hobbit house before and it was great. The boat is untidy, smells and leaks when it rains. Down stairs rooms smelt musty and there is no real windows to open so no air flow. Main room is very basic and not too welcoming. There is no external lighting so if coming back to... More

We mentioned 'quirky' 'off the commercialised tourist track' to travel agent so we got to stay in the tail of an old Brussels freight plane. Very clean, comfy accommodation in perfect location to visit the caves.

We spent one night in the room on the ship. The lady that welcomed us was very friendly and helpful in finding a nice restaurant to have dinner. The room was very clean and comfortable. We had a good sleep, the site is very quite and easily accesible. Lovely stay!!

6 of us travelling. 2 had the boat, 2 had the hobbit house and 2 had the train. We loved it!! The hobbit house was where we ate as it was the biggest "room". They are spread out on acreage and there is birdlife and cows and a pet pig who scared my sister back into the car! Short drive... More

We stayed in the aeroplane cockpit apartment and it didn't disappoint. The site is quiet and surrounded by beautiful countryside with the various motels scattered about. The cockpit apartment has 2 double beds with one bed directly behind the pilot seats. The headroom is limited in that bedroom and you have to climb a ladder to get to it so... More
