There are so many kangaroos here that each cabin provides a 'roo poo rake' to clear a path to your car! The kangaroos come by choice but they are pretty tame and just look at you without jumping away as you walk past. Our old blue heeler didn't worry them and vice versa. This is a pet friendly place, which... More

This is by far my favourite place to stay on the south coast! The park is in an amazing location with beautiful natural surroundings. This was my 3rd time staying here in a year and it won't be the last! We have stayed in 'The Van' twice and also stayed in the Silverstar glamping. The camp sites here are the... More

I travelled to the NSW South Coast with my Dad for a fishing getaway. We were going to try a few locations, North Durras was our first stop. We didn't leave for a week! We enjoyed fishing on the beach (off the rocks) and in the lake, took some bush walks and hikes, enjoyed the wildlife (daily visits by kangaroos,... More

Thanks so much for your report Bec. Hope you caught enough fish to keep your dad happy! Sounds like you made the most of your week by taking advantage of all that Durras North to offer. The fishing, walks, the lake, the wildlife. Am sure our staff will appreciate your comment about the grounds. John goes to a lot of... More

We always try to get out of the Town to camp in our Caravan.. So glad we found this Holiday Park, as it was perfect! The Camp sites are so quiet, set amongst lovely rainforest with abundant Wildlife roaming. We enjoyed a few rainforest and beach walks, a camp oven dinner in our own fire place and only a 20... More

Thanks Davo_Liza for your review. Sounds like you have found a great place to escape to! Very different to staying in a town caravan park for sure. Not for everyone. Just people like you who obviously love nature and the quieter side of life. Thanks again for staying. More

We booked this site for just one night as we were travelling along the coast and wish we could have stayed longer. On arriving at our cabin there were about 40 kangaroos on the grass ready to greet us. They did not bound away as I expected but stayed put watching. Our cabin was slightly dated but very big compared... More

Thanks Wizardwil for your review and we wish you could have stayed longer as well. The weather over that time was pretty ordinary but it looks like you made the most of it anyway. The parrots and kangaroos are always here. They don't like the rain either! Thanks again for staying. More

Fantastic location, spent hours just floating around in the lake and going for walks. Stayed in 'The Van'. Comfy and well equipped but sleeping area a little cramped. Hire a Kayak and explore the lake if you have the time. The upper parts of the lake are beautiful and there is abundant birdlife to be seen. Terrific spot to relax.

Peter C, Owner at Durras Lake North Holiday Park, responded to this review

Relaxing is what lots of people come here to do and pleased to hear you were out on Durras Lake doing just that. With the birdlife, there is reportedly 207 species in the Murramarang National Park so very popular with twitchers as well. Thanks for your review. More

Stayed at Durras Lake North Holiday Park for 3 nights in an unpowered site with my wife. This was my first camping experience and LOVED IT. As a city boy I was surprised to see the wild life so close to our camp site with kangaroos joining us for breakfast every morning (of course do not feed them) The staff,... More

Woohoo! Another convert to camping. This is what makes it all worthwhile. Going camping generally involves 5 critical factors. Good weather. Good campsite. Good location. Great attitude. Wanting to go again! Well done and getting all 5 right! More

There is so much to do in this area and Durras Lake North Holiday Park is, in our opinion, the place to stay to enjoy them. I dislike the wide open featureless camping grounds that one usually finds. These are open to the howling wind and rain and afford you no comfort or privacy when you are trying to cook,... More

Thanks for your great review. Particularly like the last sentence... "a magical place that one seldom finds but if you do, it enriches your life." Living at Durras North has certainly enriched our lives but getting to meet people such as yourselves who appreciate the place makes it just so much better. We love to share our favourite walks and... More

I am really looking forward to come back to this place: watch the sunrise, go bush walking and kayaking, just lie at the beautiful beach or drink a coffee and speak to the lovely people at the shop. There is something to do for everyone. A daily highlight is walking through the kangaroos lying on the grass on the the... More

As a backpacker from Germany I normally see a lot of touristic places. Therefore the Durras Lake North Holiday Park is like a hidden treasure for me. The location is just perfect: the wonderful lake and the ocean in front of the park, the beautiful national park with its wildlife in the back. It's a perfect place to come down... More

Hello Julia. Having travellers from all around the world is a highlight of operating this holiday park. Always great to hear about peoples travels around Australia. Many come here just to see the kangaroos. Once they arrive, they soon realise that Durras North offers much more than the kangaroos - bushwalking - kayaking - the beach and more. Glad to... More
