Me and my friend stayed for three nights here. We enjoyed our room - comfy beds. Seperate toilet and shower, which was practical but the shower was very small. There was an airconditioner/heater installed in the room that made a lot of noise, and the fact that we could change the settings ourselves caused some trouble since someone thought it... More

Really cool, modern hostel in a great location - just a short ride on the subway to Manhattan. Very clean rooms - I stayed in a 4 bed female dorm with its own bathroom. Heating was great (definitely needed in the freezing winter!). Staff were all very friendly and helpful, and had some great tips on exploring the city. Only... More

Nice hostel, friendly staff, clean, close to subway in Queens, good bed/room/bathroom. The atmosphere in the hostel was not the best, the ''travel'' vibe was not really present. It is a very big hostel with a very small kitchen (no stove or oven, only 2 pits). There is a bar, but you can't take your own alcohol into the hostel.

Thank you very much for your service. I really enjoyed my staying at your hostel. So kind and nice staffs, clean room, easy access to Manhattan, it was perfect! At first I was a little anxious. But my first NY trip was a great one thanks to your service. I'll choose this hostel without hesitating if I visit NY again.... More

Had a great time here, and close to Manhattan. All the staff were really good.Keyfoods was located near subway(Court Square station),you can go and grab some snacks for breakfast or do the cooking in the kitchen.Kitchen was too small and some guests did not clean the dish when they had finished their food, awful and bad behavior. Overall this hostel was great and... More

I stayed in this hostel for 2 nights and was happy with it overall. The place is very new and well equipped. I liked the fact that this hostel only has 4 bed dorms with private bathrooms. It's a comfortable place to stay. The bar is good and serves coffee as well. The kitchen is a little pokey but adequate.... More

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy our location. I wish you had asked us at reception because the closest subway stop (Court Square - E,M,7,G) is only two blocks away (about a three minute walk). There are three more nearby stations (Queensbridge, Queensboro Plaza, and Queens Plaza) that are all about a ten mintue walk. I hope you weren't trekking all... More

I had an overnight layover through JFK arriving 8:00 PM and leaving the next day at 2:00 PM so I decided to stay at The Local. It was excellent! Very accessible from the airport (took the Airtrain to Jamaica then Manhattan bound E train then a couple of blocks from Court Sq station--google map it!). There was an event going... More

Definitely one of the nicest hostels I stayed in around the world! Everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable and I really appreciated the padlock you got for free during the stay. The AC was pretty loud which was inconvenient for sleeping, though. I agree with other reviewers that the staff seemed preoccupied with their phones a lot,... More

Great location, short walk to the subway which was handy but not near any food places so was hard to find food to eat, and food is not allowed in the rooms so we couldn't even go to the supermarket to get chips and snacks! Housekeeping was poor. They onlt came to change the towels once and didn't empty the... More

I'm so sorry you did not have a pleasant stay at The Local. Every guest's comfort and satisfaction is very important to us and I wish you had mentioned the heat issue to us during your stay so that we could have done something about it. All rooms do have adequate heating. It is true that for the comfort of... More

The drinks are more than reasonable and the conversation is uplifting. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable! I met people from all around the world and made friendships with them that will last a lifetime.
