I travel quite a bit, and I am always on the lookout for destinations and hotels that are outside the mainstream, comfortable, honest and unpretentious, and not too expensive. Palapas del Sol hits the mark perfectly - this feels like a place I've been looking for all my life. I love Holbox and I really hope it doesn't get commercialized,... More

The hotel is very good, we were there for 5 days, 4 nights. It was my birthday during our stay and the team made me a fantastic cake and decorated the bed. About 30 mins walk into town but golf cart taxi only 40 pesos. Room was clean, outside area was clean, food was good and reasonably priced as were... More

Excellent location and clean hotel! Extremely quiet and a very relaxing environment. Great free full breakfast and an excellent deal. Small, intimate B&B feel. Only negative is the semi lack of privacy bc the hotel is small but it did not bother us one bit.

I have to agree with JaimeMexico. We just love this place, second visit in a year. The staff: Adrianna/Estrella owners, Martin, Martha and all the gang, what a great crew. There was a girl staying the same time as us who had a stomach virus and they were just terrific trying to help her. The food is great, fresh and... More

From the owners, Adrianna and Estella, to the staff (especially Eddie), the rooms and the grounds, this is a perfect place to relax. That's what you do on Isla Holbox-- get away from it all. Adrianna has a philosophy of working with local Mayans and empowering them. The food is excellent, and the palapas wonderful. Stay here on this island.

I stayed for 5 nights at Casa Palapas and thought it was wonderful. It´s a very simple hotel, nothing pretentious about it, but it has exactly what you need - generously proportioned, comfortable attractive rooms, air conditioning, hot freshwater showers, wifi everywhere, a nice pool and beautiful beach facilities. The staff are low key but very kind and concerned to... More

We stayed here five nights over Easter and couldn't have been happier. Palapas is a really lovely peaceful little place; simple enough to feel you're really away from it all but with everything you need to be comfortable. The meals are simple, authentic and fresh, the staff are gentle, kind and thoughtful. The sea is the most beautiful I've ever... More

The elements of this hotel are all very good: rustic but clean & tidy palapas to stay in, beautifully kept gardens and grounds, a lovely pool, beautiful cabanas on the beach, delicious home cooked food (every meal we had was literally awesome - home cooked and delicious) and a really idyllic setting. We could have sat in the cantina and... More

Looking for a place "off the beaten path" we came to Holbox and Palapas del Sol. We loved being outside of town and a lovely walk along the beach to get to town but stayed "home" more often as the food was excellent. We were worried about biting bugs after reading other reviews but had only a few "noseeums" as... More

We just got back from a week in Palapas del Sol and wished we could have stayed much, much longer. They have the best beach, friendliest staff, great food any time and Adriana is the best host making sure you have everything required for a memorable vacation spot. After looking at all the hotels in this area, we chose Palapas... More
