Was thrilled to see this place on arrival. Newly painted it looked gorgeous in its surroundings. Cape Cod cottage style. Had the Acadian room which I think is the nicest one. Lovely bed and facilities. Friendly host and staff. Personal and homely. Lovely dining/breakfast room with large windows and homemade breakfast included. Our host even sent us off with a... More

We were on PEI for 6 days. Stayed at Historic Maplethorpe all 5 nights. Have stayed in fancy places and inexpensive places. Seldom do you get both. And I'm not even going to start on the fabulous breakfasts that are part of your room, as well as lunches that are available at the small attached restaurant. Good food, wonderfully plated.... More

We had the best nights at the historic maplethorpe after weeks of discovering east canada with lots of impressions. It is beautiful and really silent, near a great beach and a cliff. On a sign, we were welcomed with our names written by Diana. The food is delicious, the great breakfast with salmon, fruits, waffels and so on, but also... More

Other reviewers have noted the small bathrooms. However, keep in mind that our room was $100 per night, including breakfast. We paid as much as $250 per night in other PEI inns -- and they had bigger bathrooms. One gets what one pays for. This inn is execellent value given its location, the friendly and helpful innkeepers, and the terrific... More

Off the beaten path but well located to the Confederation Bridge and touring the western, northern and central parts of the island. Room is comfortable. Bathroom is a bit small but it works. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast is fabulous. Owner is a trained pastry chef. She runs a cafe at the same location that serves weekday lunches and weekend dinners.... More

My husband and I spent four nights here while on PEI for our honeymoon. We were the only guests in the main house at the time, and were very pleased with our experience. Dianna was helpful from the first email we sent many months ago. Our bed was comfortable and while the bathroom was small, it gave us everything we... More

Window screen in room had wide torn gap at bottom and when problem identified was resolved with a large strip of scotch tape. Screen in hall window also in poor condition. This is in mosquito season . Private small bathroom although the only mirror was approx. 8"x10" mounted right in the corner and of no use. Towels replaced daily however... More

We just returned from a 10 day vacation to PEI and were very impressed with our 3 night stay at the Historic Maplethorpe Inn. The Inn itself is lovely - an old restored farm house - but what made our stay truly special was the hospitality of the proprietors, Jim and Diana Kimmel, and the incredible food. My wife has...
