The hotel was very peaceful, we were there in low season and there were only a few other couples. I really liked the feeling of isolation and being able to walk along the empty beach and swim. The water supply came off and on intermittently, the staff were all very friendly. The diving was good with lots of fish and... More

Summary: Stayed here for 3 nights in July 2013. The place is undergoing major renovations which are just being completed. We stayed in one of the new houses which were very good by cuban standards. Modern and in a beautiful spot, especially for diving. Although it's isolated location makes it kinda boring during the evenings. The food was average and... More

This hotel is in the end of the way from Pinar del Rio. We went by car and the road was full of holes. However the resort which we reached was nice, quite and enough equipped for the stay for scuba diving. We booked 3 nights and some scuba diving. The scuba dive center is experienced, international, dive masters speak... More

We backpacked across Cuba and mainly stayed in their wonderful casas particulares all over the country. We then decided to head to Maria-la-Gorda for a couple days of diving, and stayed at this hotel as this is the only one there. The scuba diving experience was amazing and I definitely recommend it. However, the hotel itself is quite bad... -... More

A few hours away from Havana city to the west, Maria La Gorda offers the finest scuba diving experience for you. A port of call of pirates lurking for Spanish Galleons laden with treasures from central and south America en route to Havana city, Maria La Gorda is rich with sunken ships a few feet off the coast as well... It is quite a trek to Maria La Gorda and only one, rather expensive, hotel to stay in. We came for the scuba diving and had a great 4 days of diving. There were not too many divers and they were operating two of their three dive boats. These were new and well maintained. The dive masters and crew were... More

The location of this hotel is amazing!!! But the hotel is terrible. We had a lovely cabin, but the bathroom wasn't clean. lunch and dinner were very expencive and not good. The only thing we liked was the fresh baked egg. There are several activities, but because of a lack of organisation we couldn't visit the National Park of Peninsula... More

As this hotel is the only one in Maria La Gorda you dont really have much choice and you have to stay there. We thought after others opinions that it will be very bad but it wasnt. It is hard to get there, you need to take a taxi or a bus from Viniales and it is expensive to get... More

If you don't have your own car, it is a mission (and expensive) to get here. We made the effort for the diving, which was supposed to be good......in actuality, it was a really bad experience. The place is very popular and there is only one dive shop, so the boats and groups are overcrowded. We were diving with 15... More

The environment is very beautyful, but this is it. Rooms are not very clean, and it did not smell good, there are cows in the garden (and other consequences of cows), food is ok, but not good. The good side is that it is a very peaceful place. Sea is beautyful and if you scuba dive they make tours every... More
