We had read the reviews and this delightful gem didn't disappoint. We had two rooms and both were immaculate and very comfortable. The rooms are tastefully decorated and stocked with lovely toiletries. The food is genuinely excellent and Tim sources the ingredients locally. Our intention had been to eat elsewhere after the first night but as the food was so... More

This is a really, really great place to stay. Absolutely first class food, and extremely comfortable room. Everything is a very high standard throughout, just as the other reviews say. Because it is an old house with high ceilings, it is worth taking warm clothes in the winter, though, despite the wood fires. More

We only dined here, unfortunately we didn't get to stay. The welome was lovely we were shown in to the sitting room with a roaring fireplace and nibbles on the table which were kettle type crisps and a plate of assorted olives with a dish of smoked sausage, quite a feastbefore we even sat down for the meal. We had... More

The other reviews are all you need, except that we have to comment on dinner. The finest pink venison we have ever tasted with a delicious sauce and succulent vegetables complemented by an excellent Vaqureas. This was haute cuisine in totally relaxed surroundings at bargain price. We would drive there just for dinner - and we live east of Birmingham. More

Enjoyed a weekend break here and was delighted with our room. We were made very welcome on our arrival and enjoyed some tea and home made cake in the very comfortable lounge. Our bedroom was large and the en suite bathroom of almost equal size. The bed linen was of high quality and the view, whilst on the road side... More

Tim and Helen Withers moved here after building up a huge reputation for top class eating at the George and Dragon near Devizes in Wiltshire. They've set up The Old Vicarage with much sensitivity, so that it still feels like a comfortable country residence. The setting is quite high up, with gorgeous panoramic views across Welsh hill farms, dotted with... More

Booked in the morning and arrived tea time to a very nice welcome with tea and cake upon arrival. Beautiful clean vicarage and very well looked after. Comfortable bed, attention to detail and all very well thought out. Healthy food and all organically grown, incl in their own garden. Dinner was wonderful and not rushed. Drinks licence which is handy... More

The B&B in Dolfor is about 3 miles before you get to Newtown (if you are heading up from S. Wales). I spent two evenings here...Its ideally located and very rural. As I drove into the grounds, I passed chicken coops and vegetable beds and the gardens were absolutely gorgeous with widlflowers... The scenery is lovely, with mountain views to... More

We stayed here for five nights and were sorry to leave. We were made very welcome by Tim and Helen and made to feel at home. The room ( Ithon) was comfortable although a little on the small, albeit cosy, side. The food is awesome (if you are on half board do not eat lunch!). Only having four rooms means... More
