Visited here on business. The front of house staff were fantastic, very warm and friendly. The food was A* so compliments to the chef. The room however left a lot to be desired! Very small almost box like room, which, although clean seemed very basic , a strange cobbled together 'wardrobe' also no blinds at the bathroom window with the... More

Nice Hotel in good location. We paid a supplement when booking for a larger room.Room was spacious and well furnished with a large bathroom. Food was excellent (this is a 2 rosette eatery )and service was superb in the dining room. Only draw back was that we had no view but we knew in advance as the town is inland.... More

Thanks so much for this short but sweet commendation of our hotel, food and staff. Karen is indeed a true credit to both herself and us since she started here just two months ago. We look forward to your return soon. . .perhaps for a Christmas, New Year and/or Valentine's celebration when we have special restaurant menus?!! More

For this hotel you are paying a premium for the location - which is excellent. We made the mistake of booking through a 3rd party - avoid this if possible. We found the staff to be fantastic. The cost of the room was pricey but we decided that we should have booked direct and that it was obvious the owner... More

A good honest review praising all that is best about us - handy location, helpful staff, great food, quality of guests, and friendliness of our local customers - and making an excellent point about booking direct with the hotel rather than through a third party. Guests who telephone, e-mail or book direct via our great new website can save around... More

Hotel with lots of character ...even a real blazing fire in the bar area. Lunch time snacks available in the bar- interesting menu. Lovely restaurant open to non residents. .. check out the Christmas menu available in December

We echo all the comments in this lovely concise review! A slightly quirky character - with bags of traditional features and good old-fashioned service - is what defines our hotel. During the winter we have open log/coal fires - sourced locally of course - in both our friendly bar and relaxing lounge, and the food on three menus is available... More

Really enjoyed the stay. Rooms a good size and comfortable. Cant recommend the restaurant food. Could be simpler and better presented. Overpriced for what you get. My salmon swam in garlic oil. I recommend you order but make uour own variations. E.g. Salmon with veges and no jus or other sauces. Rooms however a delight and staff really helpful.

Delighted this guest enjoyed his/her stay, the quality of our rooms and the friendly efficiency of our staff. Unfortunate that this guest is unable - when the vast majority of others do - to recommend our 2 AA Rosette food. We believe it combines simple ingredients, beautiful but unfussy presentation, and a fantastic tastes at a very reasonable price. We... More

We had a great weekend stay here from 31st Oct to 2nd Nov 2014. The location is excellent and the staff very helpful. The room we had was of a good standard and reasonably priced. We didnt have a meal but have heard good reports from friends. Free in-room wifi was very handy :-)

A very brief and complementary review, highlighting some of our best points. Hopefully this guest will return to stay again soon and will heed the reports of their friends to dine with us as our Lunchtime Light Bites, Traditional Classics and 2 AA Rosette menus are all exceptional value. More

Upon arriving at the sportsman, I felt I'd re entered the 70's given it's cheap and outdated decor. I was initially annoyed to be asked for a pre authorisation of my card, for £50 where they would take £50 from my account and if we ran away without paying anything, we then they'd take the money as they "didn't know... This review clearly shows it is impossible to please everyone all of the time, even when you give them a fantastic winter promotional deal i.e. £22.25 per person per night with home-made continental breakfast in a leading, 3-star Snowdonia hotel! Despite the criticisms leveled at us - which I will answer in turn - we are delighted these guests are... More

Booked a family room to ensure we had plenty of space, this had a double bed and 2 single beds. Good size bath. Paid £106 for one night and breakfast for two; ok value. TV was not working for the first 5 hours we were there (they only have freeview and it was down in the area). Large wine and... More

A mixed review touching on most aspects of our facilities, service and value for money. Our large rooms are indeed spacious and have fully re-furbished en-suite bathrooms with luxury accessories. At a maximum of £53 per person with full-cooked breakfast in the peak summer season, we believe this is great value. We explained many times to these guests that the... More
