Visited this hotel for the second time Initially I could not get the 4 nghts I preferred but the booking staff did sort me out a suitable alternative I mentioned car parking (blue badge) at the time of booking and that was arranged The hotel itself has a high standard The bedroom was spacious and comfortable (No.11) There was not... Another very comprehensive review praising everything about our booking arrangements, reserved parking for Blue Badge holders (or others with walking difficulties), the rooms, accessories, and the food! This guest makes an extremely valid point: our Reception team will do their absolute utmost to oblige customers/guests who say at the time what they would prefer or if they think something is... Arrived after a lovely trip from Caernarfon fleeing a grim hotel experience in Chester. Slightly put off by the rather solid frontage right on the high street and a long climb up four flights of stairs to the room - but, when we opened the door we started to relax immediately. Big top floor room with two single beds, two... More

We are delighted our larger twin room and the hotel's homely atmosphere helped you unwind and relax the moment you arrived from Chester, came in from the High Street, and reached the second floor. Many guests comment positively about the facilities and accessories in their room - our housekeeping team got their first-ever five-star rating by a hotel inspector in... More

May I give this positive review on behalf of a gentleman I support who stayed here for 4 nights. He has learning difficulties and needed a safe and friendly hotel offering good accommodation and wholesome food served at regular times each day. The staff were extremely helpful arranging his requirements and gave him all the support and continuity he needed... More

May we say it was an absolute pleasure for us, both making the arrangements with you and then welcoming and helping your friend to enjoy his stay. He really seemed to thrive in our homely environment, managing his pre-planned trips to the fascinating heritage railways between his pre-ordered meals in our friendly bar! We have a long and successful track... More

Wow, what an overwhelmingly positive review - thanks ever so much! We certainly do our utmost to provide first-class accommodation, food/drink, and service in our superbly-located hotel in stunning Snowdonia/Llyn/North Wales, and it's wonderful to have our efforts acknowledged! Naturally you are more than welcome to return to this hotel and the area - because there's simply still so much... More

I will start off by saying that I am fortunate enough to have a small holiday home not far from Porthmadog and love both the town and that part of Wales so might be a bit biased. One of my favourite treats is to visit Porth on a Saturday morning, do the shopping and then enjoy a relaxing drink or... More

Yes there is plenty to love about Snowdonia/Llyn, Porthmadog town, and the hotel's friendly, traditional and relaxed Gelert's 'gastro' Bar! Such really good 'pubs' of yesteryear where you can actually hear yourself or others think in a relaxed atmosphere are enjoying a well-deserved revival. Sometimes our barman may be in the cellar - making sure our huge range of brand-leading... More

Thrilled you were so happy with every aspect of your first-ever stay with us - and more so that you will definitely return, hopefully sometime very soon! Particularly delighted you enjoyed the breakfast - full-cooked rather than Welsh, as it has no laverbread and cockles! - and that your small double room in our lovely courtyard more than met your... First of all the plus points: -Centrally located in Porthmadoc, not far from Rail Station, Tesco located opposite, open till midnight.. -Well made, tidy rooms with tea/coffee/ toiletries in en suite, Bed made up every day. -Victorian coaching inn which has a charm about it. -Good food for a reasonable price in a lovely restaurant. Now the Minus part: I... More

Thanks for this frank review, both extolling our virtues and offering constructive feedback, and I will answer most of your points in order: Yes we are ideally located for all of Porthmadog and the surrounding area's amenities and attractions; and our hotel has traditional character, five-star accommodation, and five-star 2 AA Rosette food at great value! It was unfortunate you... More

Arrived and check in was efficient . Room no 12 was spotless . Everything was fine till got into bed.The bed was the only downside. Was extremely noisy at the slightest of movement. Also with paying for a larger room perhaps a king size bed would of been better. And like I've said the bed was the only thing to... More

Great to hear that everything was going smoothly. . .until bedtime. . .and was fine afterwards! Ideally, as soon as this reviewer noticed a problem with the bed, they could have informed our reception team who would have rectified the issue immediately! All our beds are brand-new and an industry-leading brand, so we were very surprised to hear of this.... More

The title says it all really and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here .The service is excellent throughout the hotel and the food is simply divine, with an excellent choice at breakfast. Not the cheapest food you'll get in Porthmadog but you get what you pay for. Would stay here again and would recommend.

Absolutely! Delighted you enjoyed everything soooo much, especially the divine dining! Our food costs a pound or three more than cheaper places in town because it is all fresh and cooked to order - never a frozen, pre-packed portion of anything processed passes through a microwave! You do indeed get what you pay for: with us that's exceptional food at... More

Stayed here for 3 nights with my family (6 year old and 2 year old twins). Lovely room in the patio area that was big enough for us even with 2 cots. Hotel is nice and clean and well looked after even though it is quite old. We usually eat out when we stay away but we ate in the... More

Wow! This super review from a young family is among the most rewarding we've ever had!
