One of the best b&b we've ever been to: A very pleasant host, a superb, clean room with a brilliant view and an excellent breakfast. Found by coincidence on our way to Islay it was an utter surprise. Andrew, we'll definitely come back again! We loved your dogs :-)

My husband and I stayed here for two nights on our recent visit to Scotland. We chose to stay in Tarbert as it was the closest to the ferry stop to Islay. What a gem of a place this was! The house was beautiful, with a lovely garden. I loved looking around the garden at all the interesting gnomes and... More

Very smart as just refurbished. Lovely room, very private, top breakfast and Andrew very helpful re restaurant advice. Perfect for ferry from Kennacraig next day. Easy walk in to town or along to pier.

My husband and I arrived at this immaculate B&B to a very warm welcome by Andrew and his three gorgeous dogs, who had just been on a very long run in the hills behind their home. Our room was lovely and spacious with a separate shower and toilet and was very warm and cosy with great views from the front... More

Spent a night in Tarbert at the Moorings. It was an excellent choice! The house was spotless, and fully renovated, with all the modern conveniences, while still maintaining a quirky charm. While the room as small, it was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was excellent (best black pudding we had in 4 weeks in Scotland!). Is a very short stroll to... More

The Moorings is the perfect stopover, when taking the the Islay ferry from Kennacraig. It's well over a year since my last visit and Andrew as given the place a complete makeover. Bedrooms have been re-vamped. The hallway is now sporting a new crisp marble floor and the entire house has new lighting. There are also some fantastic paintings on... More

A very quirky B&B, it's not your traditional Scottish B&B and you will be surprised if you arrive in the dark by the array of colourful lights, lighting up the house and garden. The b&b rooms are very clean and tidy. The decor throughout the house won't be everyone's cup of tea as its full of the owners eclectic mix... More

The Moorings house, garden and host (Andrew) are a refreshing, amusing and joyous experience. Andrew is an enthusiastic host who provides first class accommodation, a fine breakfast and a garden to entertain all. The views from the house are wonderful and a wealth of local cuisine is in walking distance. Well done Andrew, we'll be back.

We stayed here for one night as a group of 4 girls on a cycling tour of the 5 ferries route. Andrew, the owner was very friendly and helpful. His dogs were delightful, noisy but very friendly too! Breakfast was good but not enough toast and my friends vegetarian option was very limited. Rooms very clean and beds comfy!

Andrew is a great host and has recently upgraded the electrics, installing some very modern lighting systems. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice. This is an old house and our room was a little cramped but the bed was comfortable and beautifully dressed. Rather surprised by the lack of toiletries and there was no hairdryer in the room,...
