Visiting Andrew at The Mooring in Tarbet was a delight from opening the garden gate. The garden was full of colour, with hidden surprises around every tree and bush. The converted fisherman's cottage is extremely clean, with comfortable beds.We had a room with bathroom en-suite and a magnificent view over the harbour Our breakfast started with real fresh fruit salad,... We stayed for three nights and Andrew was a first class host. Very clean house. Breakfast would set you up for the day and served at a time that suited you. The house and garden are a riot of conversation pieces with plenty to amuse. Very quiet location, good views, parking ok, short walk to harbour (2-3 minutes) or the... More

The welcoming garden -- a riot of flowers, songbirds, and whimsical statues -- commands a view of the harbor. The setting is peaceful and quiet, the rooms comfortable and spotlessly clean, and the decor fanciful and fun. Generous, tasty breakfasts, served in the sunny front dining room, are prepared in an ultramodern, gleaming kitchen (recently remodeled, worth checking out). Best... More

Staying with Andrew at The Moorings has become a regular and much anticipated part of our annual holiday to Tarbert. The rooms are beautifully clean with very comfortable beds and the breakfasts are excellent, with the fresh fruit starter a welcome addition to the normal breakfast menu. Every year Andrew invests in his business and the addition this year of... More

My wife and I recently stayed for one night before getting the ferry next day to Islay. I have stayed in many B&B's in Scotland and this is by far the best. Really very clean, Andrew is an excellent host, lovely room, great bed, (sadly no TV in bedroom but others have) great breakfast, beautiful ensuite, excellent location and views... More

This is my 9th year of visiting the Moorings in Tarbert and it just gets better and better. There is always a warm welcome from Andrew and his two lovely dogs. The Moorings sits at the entrance to Tarbert harbour and as you tuck in to the fantastic breakfast you can watch the comings and goings of the yachts, fishing... More

Delightful B&B that is everything good about Scottish B&Bs. This is not your formula Premier Inn. Its a characterful B&B in the best tradition of hospitality. Andrew takes the greatest pride and care in looking after his guests, and you will certainly leave feeling better than when you arrived. Excellent wifi, and the cleanest house I have ever been in.

You'll get a big kick from viewing Andrew's incredible garden decor but you'll also be surprised by his wonderful breakfast offerings. From the fresh fruit to the Stornaway black pudding, everything was delicious. In fact, it was the best breakfast we had on our two-week Western Scotland vacation.

Arriving at The Moorings I sat in car waiting for torrential rain to stop before venturing out. Imagine my surprise when owner Andrew appeared with a large umbrella. The path to the house is lined by raised beds boasting a magnificent array of plants and flowers. However on close inspection little creatures and interesting objects are tantalisingly peeking out. Look... More
