Great service, amazing historic building, beautiful surroundings, and a restaurant with a stunning view and lovely tasting food. We would have stayed another night if they had not been fully booked. We love old buildings and are members of both National Trust and English Heritage, so to stay in a place like this was a real treat. Highly recommended.

The place, converted from an erstwhile small castle--but expanded on the rear side with the normal modern types of rooms---as wonderfully located---facing the Loch Tyne, and with practically no other buildings in the vicinity for nearly a mile! The restaurant overlooks the Lock and the backwaters---and the service is quite friendly--though the choice of foods is rather limited--considering the limited... More

The place is beautiful, outside and inside, but needs to be refurbished urgently! They say rooms were updated, but it was just make up... Restaurant is not good, food is bad andreally under staffed. We had to wait a lot to be served even if restaurant was not full. Not recommend at all! Wifi connection was bad!

Spent a romantic weekend away on the shores of Loch Fyne - idyllic ! Location and views amazing - food fantastic - one of the best breakfasts in a long time - the smoked mackerel is much recommended. It is an older hotel so the room decor seems a bit tired - but very atmospheric hotel - will definitely come... More

I really wanted to like this place. Really. The location and scenery was spectacular, but the service was not. It took 8 emails to book a room, since no one seemed to know when renovations would be complete. The completed room had cracked grout, glue in the shower, REALLy slow wifi, one TV that had one staticky channel and one... More

We stayed at the Stonefield 3nights. The staff, food, location all excellent. Carpets a little worn but the place has bags of character. The bar library and drawing room make for really quiet peaceful evenings after a hard day walking. Really comfortable with views that are breath taking. My only criticism the drive way really needs attention. The potholes are... More

The views from the hotel dining room, which has huge windows on 3 sides, are incredible. The hotel building is beautiful & full of character. It's a bit tired in places, although renovations are meant to be ongoing but the location more than makes up for this. The lovely fishing town of Tarbert is a couple of miles away -... More

I love this place. It is full of character and original features. The food is fantastic as is the service. The view over Loch Fyne from the restaurant cannot be beaten. Great value for money. Stonefield Castle is a place I will visit time and time again. A true gem!

think I must have got a special deal on this because at £149 pp for DBB it was amazing value, Dinner allowance was £30 and we had an amazing meal without breaching this. Room was very comfortable and staff fantastically friendly and helpful. This place is set in amazing private gardens - brilliant from walking the dog.

Outstanding setting with outstanding staff! I always look forward to my visits here and the warm welcome that is always waiting. The food is always first class and I can't think of anywhere else that beats it in Argyll. Excellent value for money too!
