Views are second to none, what a shame about the rest. After reading the other reviews I feel we were staying at a different place, We received no confirmation of our booking, even though we phoned direct and paid the extra £5 per night (as we didn't book over the internet it apparently cost more to book direct) We 'phoned... more

We loved staying at this hotel and are now kicking ourselves for not booking for 3 nights rather than 2. When we arrived we requested a room change because we had pre-paid for a superior room and we were fairly certain that the room they gave us was a standard one that looked out over the dining room roof. There... more

We stayed in the Stonefield last night and found a gem of a hotel. The scenery was breathtaking and the view from the resturant was second to none. We stayed in room 35 which was compact but well equipped and importantly for us situated in the old castle itself. Dinner was excellent and it was apparent that the AA Rosette... more

If you have not been to Stonefield Castle for a while, it's time to go back. It was a bit of a Cinderella castle in years gone by; bewitched by some poor 1970's "improvements" and flanked by a couple of ugly sister extensions. More recent ownership and new management and kitchen teams have woken it from it's slumber (if you... more

We enjoyed a two night stay here for our first wedding anniversary and it was the most romantic place we've ever stayed. The service, food and staff were all great but most of all we enjoyed the peace and quiet. There's not a great deal to do locally but we enjoyed walking in the gardens and around the little island... more

Stayed here for one night en route to Islay, it's very convenient for the ferry. One night isn't really enough to enjoy all Stonefield has to offer. It's slightly raised location gives it spectacular views over Loch Fyne and we enjoyed a walk through the gardens down to the shore. Our rooms were large, well decorated, had newly refurbished bathrooms, and... more

I managed to find a fantastic deal which included 2 nights DBB in a loch view superior-room with champagne and chocolates on arrival for 250 quid. My partner loves castles and her dream would be to live in one, so i thought this would be a great romantic and exciting experience for us, and it was. The food was delicious,... more

I have read other reviews on this hotel and have to agree that the scenery surrounding the castle is lovely with a great view from the restaurant. The grounds are lovely to walk in which you will need to do if you want a signal on a mobile phone. We had booked a 2 night stay for our wedding anniversary... more

We had a 2 night stay at Stonefield and although our room was described as a family room it was in fact a large principal room with an extra 2 beds for the kids. The room was very large and in no way felt cramped with the additional beds added. Our bed was very comfortable and the kids also slept... more

Stonefield Castle..a hidden gem in the Mull of Kintyre. Stonefield Castle is tucked away on the banks of Loch Fyne away from the main road. Situated just outside the village of Tarbert, this countryside castle is the perfect venue for spending quality time with a loved one! The absolutely breath-taking scenery surrounding the castle is the most perfect view when... more
