This hotel is in a beautiful location. The bar and restaurant on the ground floor are very quaint with breathtaking views. Dinner and breakfast was good to average. We had a twin room on the ground floor that was really very tired and in need of renovation. WiFi was poor at best.

Just returned from a holiday with Great Rail Journeys, which I went on with my Mum. We flew to Glasgow and then took a train to Oban then coach to the Stonefield Castle Hotel. My mother's room (No.4) had lots of black mould around the bath. This was replaced within 24 hours. The furniture was dark and old, not antique... More

We have stayed at this castle on many occasions and this is one of our favourite hotels which makes for a great short break. It is also a lovely drive from Glasgow which takes around 2 hours and along the way you will pass by Loch Lomond, Arrochar and Inverary. The castle is an impressive mansion house in a stunning... Coming from Sweden this is what a scottish castle should look like. I loved every minute of staying there. The room was ok not fanch pamts but perfect just because that. And the food. Definitely one of the best meals in a long time and absolutely the best on our Scotch trip. The view was breathtaking. Just stayed one night... More

This hotel has a wonderful location but needs to investment to modernize the rooms, which are tiny and quite dated. Also, no doubt due to the thickness of some of the Castle walls, internet is patchy and very slow. That said, in the newer portion of the Hotel the walls were quite thin and it was quite easy to hear... More

Truly lovely setting in nice park on the shores of Loch Fyne. Grand old baronial pile, huge rooms, 4-poster bed (hard mattress), draughty and painted-over windows, absolutly crappy bathroom ! Mouldy wallpaper, rusted bathtub faucets, make-shift DIY shower installation -disgraceful. This was supposed to be a superior room for 225 pounds (DBB). Impressive bar, dated dining room with admittedly great... More

It's a wonderful hotel full of character. The view from our recently renovated room was actually breathtaking and the view from restaurant was also amazing. The food was excellent with wonderful choices. The service was attentive and personal and yes they were all Eastern European so what! All well mannered excellent English. The fact it's not all shiny and new... More

Very friendly staff. Food was excellent - lovely local seafood. Good sized bedroom, furniture a bit mismatched, but very comfortable. It was good to be able to adjust heating and open the window. Bathroom was in dire need of refurb, but everything worked! Could only pick up WiFi in one of the (very comfortable) public rooms downstairs. Views from the... More

Had a B&B deal here recently whilst returning from Islay, lovely room with a huge bed, bathroom was a bit tatty though (hopefully getting renovated with the other rooms soon). Staff are friendly and accommodating, the food was nice, the view from dining room is stunning. We loved watching the wild birds whilst we ate breakfast and a walk in... More

Stunning natural setting on Loch Fyne in a rather run down once beautiful mansion. This place is in need of competent management and a lot of TLC. The staff tried hard but lacked training and supervision. In house meals were mostly good but staff training problems needed solving here as well. Wifi router for free wifi was not working properly.... More
