We spent two nights here at Southcliffe and enjoyed it thoroughly. Hospitality from Mike and Margaret was fantastic, with very helpful advice on where to eat etc. We had the double room at the front which was extremely comfortable and well laid out. Breakfast was really nice and well laid out, husband had the full breakfast while I had the... More

Very comfortable room in this small old house - looks like it's been newly renovated. Very close to restaurants, Harbour in this picturesque town. Very small breakfast area and good hospitality. Parking is a on a narrow road.

We spent one night at this lovely B&B before heading to the Islay Ferry the next morning. There were four adults and two teenagers in our party. Mike greeted us at the door and made us feel so welcome. He offered suggestions for restaurants for dinner....which ones are great and which ones to avoid. The next morning we enjoyed our... More

We spent two nights in the Southcliffe B&B in Tarbert and we totally loved it. Mike and Margaret have been excellent hosts, welcoming and kind, helping us out with any request we may have had, from recommending local places to sightseeing spots and even printing our boarding passes when we couldn't find a place that did so in town. The... More

Great bed and breakfast ,arrived on cycles which they stored with no problem.Room lovely warm and comfortable.Given key so could come and go.I do not eat wheat and was offered gluten free bread ,they made extra efforts to ensure we had a good stay.Would certainly recommend this bed and breakfast to other travellers.

We stayed here on our way to Islay. We arrived to find that we had been upgraded to a very spacious family room, and the price discounted too -perfect! Beds and linens were very comfortable - there was even a cockerel to wake us up - and the bathroom was clean and spacious. Two minor gripes: the toilet is a... More

We spent the night here before heading out to the islands. Mike gave us a warm welcome. The room we had was spotlessly clean, recently renovated with a lovely bathroom. The B&B is ideally situated for walking into Tarbert from dinner. The breakfast was excellent, Mike was happy to organise an early one for us so that we could eat... More

We spent the night here before catching the ferry to Islay, booking via laterooms. We found it unfriendly and unwelcoming, and would not stay here in future. We arrived around 9pm (having phoned ahead telling the owner when to expect us); the welcome we received made it apparent that our "late" arrival had caused significant annoyance. We were also told... More

The rooms are very recently remodeled and nice. The proprieters kept to themselves pretty much which made it less fun... and the grounds are non-existent. They did give us a small refund since we had to leave early for the ferry and would miss breakfast....( we have stayed other places where they offer to make you something earlier which is... More

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to review Southcliffe after your recent stay. We are glad you enjoyed our remodelled rooms, we are very proud of them. We love meeting our guests and enjoy spending time with them, however once guests have made their way to their rooms we do like to give them time to enjoy their surroundings.... More
