Thoroughly enjoyed eating here. The place is gorgeous inside - French country style - and the food was absolutely delicious. Quite expensive but well worth it for a special treat. We polished off everything!

The French Hen is one of our favourite restaurants. It's great to be able to have a drink in the bar, either at the bar or in a comfy sofa before going through to the restaurant. And afterwards for a wee dram: they have some really nice single malt scotch on offer. I chose Lagavulin 16. The food is always... More

We stayed for one night and found the room to be of a very basic standard. You could see the mattress through the sheet and the shower was cold. There was mould around the shower cubicle and the room was incredibly hot. The comparison between the standard of food and drink and the accommodation was stark indeed. When I phoned... More

Second visit, today, first for Sunday lunch. Food was lovely on both visits, a bit pricey but lovely for special occasions. Only gripes was service was a bit up and down, served us 4 starters and had to ask for the 5th. and couple of waitresses a bit moody looking, maybe because it was busy but thats no excuse. They... Visited a few times at lunchtime. Always found us a table even if busy. Food of good quality although the vegetables with Sunday lunch can be a little bland. Nice garden at the back which is a good spot to enjoy a drink in the sun. No riff raff or yobs on a day out from Birmingham!

Lovely lunch time dining experience. Would recomend this country hideout. More of a pub then a restaurant we found, but lovely all the same with friendly staff and good quality pub food. Will be returning soon.

We visited without booking up. Service was great...nice and friendly but not in your face. All five of us had different meals and all were really well cooked and well presented. Came to about £20 a head. Service was timely and cutlery, plates and glasses were stylish. It was sunny outside and we sat out for puddings on the lovely... More

I visited the French Hen on a Saturday lunchtime. There's a good selection of baguettes, and I've visited a couple of times previously and tried a few. Ordered 2 tuna baguettes, came out nice and promptly. Bread was fresh, and unlike most establishments the tuna mayo was full of tuna and not mayonnaise. The cheesy chips are to die for,... More

We went tonight after a lovely walk on Clent Hills. Weather was lovely so we thought we would stop here as i have been here years ago. We were not extremely hungry but the menu looked nice even though the prices were expensive ( as expected in a french bistro in the countryside). Mussels in a white wine and shallots... More
