I went here with 2 friends after looking at their festive menu on line on Monday the 14th Dec. We rang and reserved a table when we got there we asked for the festive menu and the waitress said the chef does not want to cook the festive menu on a Monday. we pointed out that on the web site... Planned and booked for our annual 24/12 luncheon.( table for 3 ). Took a while before our drinks order was taken but it took even longer before our order was taken. The 3 starters took half and hour to arrive and when I made my dissatisfaction clear , we were told that the chel had made an error and that... More

Now I don't want to show my age, but the last time I ate here was over 35 years ago when it was called The Woodman. Little has changed, which is surprisingly nice as it was still delightful back in the 70's. The books that once lined the walls have now been replaced with wine bottles, adding to the now... More

Great place! Thank you for having me and being so helpful, was given my room early to get ready and got a great welcome (thanks Adele). Was coming in late, so was given the door code. This place was great: - wifi - good sized room - good temperature - very quiet - comfy bed + nice bedding - tea... More

We went for Sunday dinner there were 7 of us so we pre booked a table which is advisable if there is a large party, the food was very nice, large portions .they also do a selection of gluten free, overall a pleasant Sunday lunch.

Lovely pub set in small village. Great grounds...lovely to dine out in. Beautiful interior with lots to look at. Lots parking.Service was courteous and prompt. Held birthday gathering for 20 odd people and they coped really well...although the space was a little cramped to get us all in on one table, making loo visits a big shuffling exercise! Food is... Party of 14 celebrated a friends birthday. Good range and choice of food which was wonderful, staff and service attentive and friendly. Good value. A wonderful quirky venue. I had the button mushrooms with stilton cheese on top delicious for starters. Cajun chicken ceaser salad for mains, too full for dessert. Will definitely be visiting again.

After being recommended to The French Hen by a member of the family we were really looking forward to a nice Sunday afternoon meal at what looked to be a quaint pub/bistro. What a mistake! Staff were uninterested from the start. They could see we had a child with us but did not think to offer us a children's menu.... More

Having previously been advised that this was a nice place to have a meal. We decided to go there today for our anniversary with our daughter who is five. Having asked for our drinks, I was presented with a filthy chipped glass, which I decided to ignore as this occasionally happens in bars & restaurants. However, the meals then turned... More

Been here quite a few times and overall love the food!! The mussels and Sunday Dinners are delicious! The pub has an lovely outside garden area and we take out dog here quite a lot too as there are a few customers that take their pets! Although the pub itself is very unique, French style themed decor inside but it... More
