We head the misfortune to stay at the so hotel last night when we arrived they couldn't Find our bookings, but eventually did.stayed as two couples. The rooms can only be described as disgusting . They were filthy, with lights hanging off the wall , wardrobe shut with paper. Bar served wine in dirty glasses. I could go on about... More

Stayed for 2 nights in room 19. A large room with lots of original beams. Large wardrobe. Sitting area & TV. The mattress slid in the night, so, not a great nights sleep. The bathroom was a reasonable size, shower took a while to heat up, but fine when it did. The shelf above the basin is in a terrible... More

Yes, it must been a lovely hotel in its day! We booked for three nights and as other reviews have indicated, this is a lovely historical building worthy of much more care and attention. It has been neglected for obvious commercial reasons. Rooms and bathrooms were barely adequate, cleanliness just about acceptable, reception and bar dead and the place was... More

This is a hotel full of character and old world charm. Don't stay here if you are only used to the clinical cleanliness of modern hotels. That's not to say that the Talbot is not clean, merely that because of it's age, there are sloping floors, large wooden beams and the odd leaking roof. But the food is first rate,... More

I was booked in here by a colleague for a two night stay. The room booked was a superior double and was priced very well. The bed was a comfy four poster which I must admit was very nice. The decor was tired and the furniture whilst adequate had see better days. The room was warm and there was constant... More

Booked a room at the Talbot to attend an event in the Hotel. Upon arrival the car park was full to the brim, not a space anywhere. I was advised that there was a function on until 8pm. There were no local car parks but was recommended the local Tesco for 3 hours free parking until one at the Hotel... More

whilst visiting family in the area decided to try the Talbot as I used to live nearby and it was very conveniently placed for us. The room had peeling wallpaper, there were around 20 dead bugs in the light fitting. When you flushed the toilet the noise from the plumbing was unbelievable! We were in room 29 and have photographic... More

There's no doubting that the Talbot Hotel has bags of character. A Medieval building with oak beams and wattle and daub in places it shows its coaching in credentials. A characterful room, plenty of space and parking at the back. And yet, a 50-minute wait for a bar snack in an empty bar, lukewarm water in the shower, cold breakfast... More

We spent just under a week at the Talbot hotel. It is a beautiful and charming hotel. The staff were hard working and diligent, and we felt incredibly welcome. The room was spacious with all the mod-cons we could want, along with the charm and history. I would happily use the Talbot again, and would recommend it to anyone looking... More
