We stayed for one night, lovely room -could hear the bells at times during the night but they weren't intrusive and I'm a light sleeper! The food was delicious (we had lunch, evening meal and breakfast)- a small but varied selection to choose from. Would definitely stay again.

On a wednesday night in February we were lucky to get the last available table. From the bar menu for £10.50 we had restaurant quality fish pie, clearly home made, and pork belly served on a bed of wonderful potato. Service from Peter and Elisabeth was exemplary and charismatic as always. Thank you!

We have relatives nearby so have been for lunch a few times and thought the food was excellent. Dishes on the bar menu are £10.50 and are well above average for pub food. The service is friendly and efficient. The landlady gave our 4 year old grandson a free scoop of ice cream, which impressed him hugely. The only thing... More

Stayed overnight whilst visiting family nearby, everything in the Inn is in character, rooms a good size, lovely old beams and a fair sized bathroom with a power shower. Whilst we didn't eat in the bar, the menu looked lovely, breakfast was excellent quality and served promptly. The landlady was good fun with a very dry sense of humour. Overall... More

Initial impression was disappointing as we had not been advised that the building was covered in scaffolding. We also had difficulty getting in despite ringing the bell. However this is a friendly and (subsequently) welcoming period hotel with a strong local clientel. The room was small but had most facilities. It is important to note the near proximity of the... This place looks delightful, but sadly the customer service was far from it. A sign by the bar says we welcome children but before our two families had even sat down that proved to be a lie! The owner came over and shouted at us to be more considerate to other guests ( because the children were excitedly saying hello... More

It was the first time in my life that a landlord and one other member of staff were so openly unhappy with the fact that young children were in their pub. Firstly, soon after arriving with 2 toddlers and 2 babies (3&7 months) the barman/landlord asked for no children in the bar area. This is a fair point, but his... More

I cannot understand the negative reviews of this Inn. We have stayed here twice and found it to be friendly and comfortable on each visit. Okay- if you want corporate style, boutique chic or even broadband try somewhere else. This is hospitality old fashioned style. No frills, rather eclectic taste in decor and basic comforts. However the food is great,... More

I went for a bite to eat with a group of friends. The landlord was extremely rude, and reduced me to tears, I have never ever experienced such rubbish hospitality and I note that a lot of the other reviews have mentioned the same. Why are you still doing this job?!!!

Very impressed by hospitality and friendly service. We eat out a lot and this was genuinely the best meal we have all eaten (4 of us) in a very long time and it was also excellent value for money. Recommend it highly.
