Worst meal ever. Despite room and meal being prebooked 3 weeks in advance and confirmed by email , no table provided in dining room. First course took over an hour to arrive. Dishes arrived without items - on querying they said they had run out of eggs! Wrong dishes proveded. Food cold. Not good quality etc. Steer clear. Run by... more

Stayed for 3 nights over easter 09 . Everybody was very helpful and friendly . The rooms were clean well maintained. The breakfast was very good with a good choice . We ate in the hotel all three nights and the food was excellant and very reasonably priced . The present managers have only been here for 6 weeks so... more

My partner and I have stayed here before and havve always had a good time. We decided to book for valentines night. The service was initally very good until we went to the bar the manager was sat openly and loudly critising the hotel and the way it had been run he said how awful it had been and that... more

I have just returned from a business trip where I stayed at the George Hotel in Dorchester on Thames for 4 nights. I hadn't read any reviews on the hotel before my trip and now that I have seen some I am glad that I didn't. My experience was very different from other customers who have made reviews. I found... more

I wish I had read the feedback before booking this hotel. If you've already booked, do yourself a favour and cancel - the room was vile, smelt like someone had spent 20 years smoking 60 [-] a day in there and the shower didn't work. I'd be more prepared to accept it if it had been a cheap B&B but... more

Booked a last minute with Laterooms, this the only bonus that it was cheap. The George is in desperate need of a "lick of paint". We were allocated a room in what used to be the old stable block, it was damp and musty smelling. We too had the same problem with the towel radiator, it was dangerously hot, we... more

This is an old coaching inn, set in a very pretty village but my husband and I did not have a happy or comfortable stay. We had phoned about a month ahead to book a twin-bedded room for four nights, but on arrival had been allocated a fourposter. This was changed to a family suite (inter-communicating double-bedded room and twin-bedded,... more

We booked the room nearly a year ago and were extremely disappointed to be shown to a dull, stale and smokey room with tired and tatty furniture. The Manager when he eventually came gave the impression he did not care and did not have the time to help solve the problem and offered to spray the room 'in about ten... more

We have just returned from this pleasant hotel in a lovely sleepy village after a short stay (3 nights). Very welcoming and olde worlde charm. We asked for a quiet room with a view if posssible and initially were pleased to find that our good sized double room with large bathroom overlooked the Abbey at the front of this hotel.... more

I stayed here a couple of times due to work and I have to start by saying the staff are great. However the rooms are a lottery! They vary from four poster beds with the smallest portable TV with a hair dryer which couldn't blow foam off your coffee, to family rooms with the smallest portable TV! Cleanliness really lets... more
