Great food, wonderful friendly staff and spacious rooms. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Nothing was too much for the staff and the breakfast is particularly good. The dinning areas a spacious and light. Location couldn't be better x

After sitting in a traffic queue in the pouring rain and dark for 2 hours the police informed us we couldn't get through to Hexham (where we had a hotel booked), or back to Carlisle where there might be accommodation. Haltwhistle was the nearest town, so we hoped for somewhere warm and dry to stay. The Centre of Britain hotel... More

Hotels should firstly be hospitable and this one does it in spades! The manageress and cook (Christine) was as friendly as someone you had known for years and is an accomplished cook. The food was quality and generous and, although the dinner menu was the same for both of the nights we stayed, it was so extensive it could serve... More

We stayed here for one night on 23rd October with 6 people and 2 dogs on our way to the Isle of Skye from Devon. The Hotel and rooms were very comfortable, well appointed and clean. We stayed for dinner and the food was excellent and really good value. Christine (Manager) is brilliant as not only did she welcome us,... More

Stayed here for 5 nights at the end of September. Based at Haltwhistle while walking the Best of Hadrian's Wall. The hotel is ideally placed for Vindolanda, Houseteads, and all the major Roman sites. The Manager Christine, and all the staff, are lovely people who are only to happy to help and ensure a comfortable and trouble-free stay. The food... More

Stayed with some friend while visiting Hadrian,s Wall and other local spots. THe rooms were great, roomy, comfortable and a little quirky. Food was first rate, don't order the "normal breakfast" unless you havea good appetite. Staff and management were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for one night while visiting Hadrian's Wall, Vindolandia and the Roman Army Museum which are very close by. Breakfast was great and Christine allowed us an extremely late checkout without charging us so that one of the group who was too ill to travel could spend part of the day recovering in bed before moving on. The... More

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of a group walking the Best of Hadrian's Wall and found it to be a great little hotel. The food helpings aren't for those with small appetites! We stayed on full board which included picnic lunches and Christine made sure we never walked on empty stomachs. The breakfast menu has something for... More

I stayed at this hotel in the old part of the building with my 3 year old daughter and dad. The staff couldn't do enough for us, even to the point of rearranging the menu to cater for a 3 year old's tastes! The setting is breathtaking and the building so historic. The balcony in our room was the 'piece... More

We were given the a suite above the laundry which was very spacious, comfortable and quiet. The evening meal was well cooked and presented and the breakfast was generous. The staff were courteous and helpful and we look forward to returning.
