Christine and her Team are Top of our Pops. We were on a 6 day walking holiday with a group along the Hadrian's Wall Path and the breakfast was enough to keep us going all day, with the odd stop for a pint or a cream tea. Evening meals were individually cooked, interestingly varied and of ample proportions, and we... More

The hotel doesn't look much from outside, but is full of character. Our children (7 and 13) loved the character - the beds on the mezzanine - and the amount of space in the family room. Staff were great and breakfast and evening meal (optional) were good. Great location for exploring Hadrian's Wall.

Having just got back from a 3 night stay exploring Hadrians wall I was very impressed with the centre of Britain hotel. Booking two rooms, the first, which was dog friendly was clean, warm and very comfortable. The second upstairs in the main building was excellent. The hotel is walker and dog friendly and Christine is very welcoming as is... More

We met some very good friends here for dinner. The staff where very good and the hotel is decorated to a high standard. My Salmon was only just cooked and judging by the fact that most of our party didn't have clean plates it wasn't the best we have had for this standard of venue. Fortunately we really enjoyed the... I stayed for 6 nights on a HF walking holiday on Hadrian's Wall. My friend and I had a superb room (room C in the annexe). As others have said, Christine the manager was extremely helpful. We were on full board and the meals were generous and good, including the packed lunches for our walks. Highly recommended. Only drawback was... More

A brilliant welcome from Christine, who couldn't give a warmer welcome. It is evident that she loves her job and cares dearly about her guests experiences. Not only is Christine a fantastic hos, but all the other girls who work at the Centre of Britain are warm and friendly. The rooms are very comfortable and beautifully furnished. I had my... More

Eleven of us spent 2 memorable nights here to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. Christine, the Manageress, made every effort to ensure that we all had a good time. The delightful garden room was set aside for the birthday dinner and the food and service were of a very high standard. The rooms are spacious, well maintained, comfortable and immaculate.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This is Haltwhistle’s most historic building. The oldest part of the hotel was a Border Reivers' Pele Tower, dating from the 15th Century. Later it became a Manor House, Excise Office, Coaching Inn, Post Office, Temperance Hotel, Pub and Cafe. In 1997 we completely refurbished the building, finding many archaeological and architectural features - many of which have been included in the presentation of the reborn Hotel. The result – a combination of modern comfort & Tradition. We have a total of 12 bedrooms, all individually designed many with original architectural features. All have private bathrooms and are equipped with TV, radio, direct dial telephones, hospitality trays and hair dryers. We have a secure car park at the rear of the hotel with direct access to the rearSo, there is something for everyone, but most of all a warm welcome with a relaxed style and atmosphere to make you feel at home. ... more   less
