Haltwhistle is an ideal base for touring Northumberland and the surrounding area, and you won't find a better B&B than Ashcroft. The gardens look great in any season and are perfect for sitting out in the evening, and all the rooms (I've tried 5 so far) are comfortable and well equipped at the very least. Breakfast never fails to disappoint,... More

We've just returned from a 4 night stay in the self-contained apartment attached to the beautifully renovated old house, and can honestly say that it was perfect for our needs. The apartment was clean, fresh and cosy, with cooking and dining facilities, and each of the 2 bedrooms had its own ensuite shower room. The rooms were made up for... More

This is a fabulous place to stay when wanting to see Hadrians wall. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment at the back of the main building. Very spacious with a kitchen and lounge. We were able to put the heating on here, so all nice and cosy. I found the decor quaint and homely which really suited the surroundings.... More

It would be difficult to see how our recent stay at Ashcroft could have been any better. Christine and Geoff were consumate hosts, ensuring that we got the most from our stay in the area. Breakfasts were second to none for choice and value, with home made yoghurt and veggie sausages on the menu. The house is stunning, well appointed... More

I have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Ashcroft. I stayed in the self contained apartment attached to the main house. I cannot fault the Ashcroft in any way. Impecable, warm and very welcoming. Little touches throughout make a stay there a real pleasure. The breakfast is the very best I have had.

Fabulous setting in award winning gardens. Accommodations were excellent. Large, comfortable rooms with en-suite bathrooms were excellent. The bathrobes were a nice touch. Breakfast was the best value of all the places we stayed in the UK - ever. Our hosts were an excellent source of tourists information and very helpful and offered to 'rescue' us if we were 'lost'.... This place deserves every rave review it gets. The rooms are meticulously decorated, large (we had two balconies, one facing east and the other west), and spotless. The breakfasts are very well done and feature fresh fruits, homemade yoghurt, and a nice selection of cooked meals. The owners and staff are extremely courteous and friendly. The building is a beautifully... More

This house is owned and run by a special couple who could not be any more welcoming and helpful. The place is amazing, the food is 5*, the rooms are superb and the price is unbeatable for the quality you get. If you are in this area do not go anywhere else!!!

For our recent walk along Hadrian's Wall we based ourselves at Ashcroft guest house. It could not have been better. The house and grounds are beautiful and the hosts Christine and Geoff went out of their way to give us the perfect stay. Our room was extremely well appointed and comfortable, breakfasts varied and excellent and I would recommend a... More

What a find, we are very grateful to our friends who highly recommended Ashcroft following their stay earlier in the year. We stayed for 3 nights in September in room 10. A very large room tastefully furnished and decorated, spotlessly clean, everything you need. The house is set in wonderful gardens with superb views and is a perfect venue for... More
