We spent a delightful week at Ashcroft while we were walking Hadrian's Wall. Everything about the place is first class: Chris and Geoff (the owners), the rooms, the breakfasts and the location. Good memories. more

When I found myself without accommodation due to an unexpected hiccup in my travelling plans a Newcastle taxi driver took me to Ashcroft Guest House because he knew that it was a great place to stay. I can't speak highly enough of the accommodation and the service I received. Thank you very much for your wonderful support and help. Diane... more

What a lovely place to stay, central to everything that you need and want, 2 minute walk to the town for restaurants and tea rooms, close to lots of walks and even the weather was nice to us! The B&B was fantastic, very friendly hosts who gave us an excellent service. The room was very clean and comfortable with lovely... more

The Ashcroft House is a 1821 vicarage which has been beautifully restored. The rooms are large and well-decorated and comfortable. Our room had a fantastic view out to the hills. The bathroom is modern and clean with large fluffy towels. The WIFI was a bit of a problem as some of the walls in the house are stone and we... more

This is a wonderful guesthouse that's amazing value. The room was large, spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. The house itself is large enough that you don't feel you're in someone's spare room and it's set in a huge, beautiful garden tucked away from the main street so is very peaceful. The proprietors were fantastic - helpful and kind without being... more

This was the only hotel who would accommodate us for a one night stay and we were absolutely thrilled to stay in such a beautiful home and its gardens. The owners and their staff were very warm and welcoming, very knowledgeable and helpful in their information and advice about the surrounding area. Have already recommended it to friends and colleagues... more

We took our grandson to see Hadrian's Wall and needed a family room for one night only. We didn't have time to do any research and ended up at the Ashcroft when the hotel we tried was full. Are we glad we did! The Ashcroft is a lovely old house set in beautiful gardens. The owners and staff could not... more

We stayed on 6.7.09 for hubby's birthday, but it was also our first night away with our baby who will be 1 later this month. It is the ideal place to go, we stayed in room 4 & also had the adjoining room so it was a mini-suite. The baby went in the small room in a cot supplied by... more

Stayed one night at Ashcroft in July 2008. The owner was very helpful and accommodating, the room was comfortable and well furnished and the place itself had a very inviting lounge. We enjoyed the amazing gardens – perfect for an evening stroll with a glass of wine. Breakfast was excellent – plenty of choice and as much as you would... more
