This is a hidden gem and when I say hidden, I mean hidden. Do not follow satnav's as they may lead you elsewhere. It took us a long time after taking many wrong turns to find the place, we even began to wonder if the place did actually exist!. Once we did find the place, the private road down to... More

Spent the new year (30th Dec - 2nd Jan) at the cottages (The Byre) and had a lovely time. The location and surroundings were fantastic with great views and plenty of places to visit and explore nearby. The cottage itself was awesome big enough for 4 of us as well as being very clean. We also had the use of... More

Found scotchcoulthard by chance looking for dog friendly holidays last year we went for the first time in august 2014 and since then we have been back 5 times. The host's Susan and Andrew are lovely anything that you are not happy with just let them know and they will sort it out. The farm is prefect for dogs also... More

We have recently returned from a four night stay where we stayed in the Byre. We were visiting friends and wanted something different to the usual Premier Inn stay. Our search criteria involved a cottage with a pool and that is indeed what we got. First impressions were good - set away from the rest of the world north of... More

This is indeed a hidden Gem. A beautiful cottage set in beautiful surroundings with great hosts and briliant facilities. We stayed in Hope Syke which was a cosy and comfortable small cottage with a wood burning fire (which was useful given the poor weather we had in July!). We made use of the swimming pool which was an added bonus.... More

Owners seemed very nice and helpful during our stay BUT .... would advise a four wheel drive vehicle unless you have no regard for the suspension on your car - 1/2 mile track down to cottages is not really acceptable - narrow, farm track full of potholes and boulders - a very real concern that we might puncture the sump;... I have just returned from my 4th visit to scotchcoulthard. what can I say except it is the best place I have stayed in. taking the dogs on holiday is the most important thing to me and the freedom that they get here is fantastic. no rules and regulations as to what they can do and not do. so much... Literally in the middle of nowhere. 6 miles from the nearest shop. Heaven. A great place to stay for walking and star gazing. Kids will love it too if they can live without wifi or phone signals. A must for dog lovers too The local farm dogs will take over your lodge too..we had 6 at one point. Take extra... More

This was an amazing find and we shall definitively be back. Our journey to find this amazing place was stunning in itself, having turned off the main road and traveled for a few miles, you start to cross open moorland on a single track road which eventually leads to a track which crosses open farm land down to the farm....
