This is indeed a hidden Gem. A beautiful cottage set in beautiful surroundings with great hosts and briliant facilities. We stayed in Hope Syke which was a cosy and comfortable small cottage with a wood burning fire (which was useful given the poor weather we had in July!). We made use of the swimming pool which was an added bonus.... More

Owners seemed very nice and helpful during our stay BUT .... would advise a four wheel drive vehicle unless you have no regard for the suspension on your car - 1/2 mile track down to cottages is not really acceptable - narrow, farm track full of potholes and boulders - a very real concern that we might puncture the sump;... I have just returned from my 4th visit to scotchcoulthard. what can I say except it is the best place I have stayed in. taking the dogs on holiday is the most important thing to me and the freedom that they get here is fantastic. no rules and regulations as to what they can do and not do. so much... Literally in the middle of nowhere. 6 miles from the nearest shop. Heaven. A great place to stay for walking and star gazing. Kids will love it too if they can live without wifi or phone signals. A must for dog lovers too The local farm dogs will take over your lodge too..we had 6 at one point. Take extra... More

This was an amazing find and we shall definitively be back. Our journey to find this amazing place was stunning in itself, having turned off the main road and traveled for a few miles, you start to cross open moorland on a single track road which eventually leads to a track which crosses open farm land down to the farm.... Just returned from a week long stay in 'Acorn' cottage, part of Scotchcoulthard farm. We love being outdoors in the countryside and you get this at Scotchcoulthard in abundance. I am a keen runner and I could run through miles of forest track, almost from the front door. The cottage itself is compact and cosy. The delicious homemade welcome cake... More

If you want a quiet place to get away from it all, Provide you with excellent accomodation, plenty of fresh air, and a good base from which to explore the delights of Northumberland then this is the place for you. All the cottages are clean,... More

My boyfriend had booked this as a surprise present for my 21st which was in December but as our dog was still just a puppy he had booked it for May when the weather was due to pick up. He did not disappoint me!! Scotchcoulthard is in the middle of 178 acres of sheer blissful nothingness!! Just what you need... More

Just returned from our first trip to Scotchcoulthard and it will be one of many. We found our little piece of heaven. So much land to wander around, walks in the forests, streams to play in. The dogs loved every minute and so did we. Andrew and Susan are very helpful but do not intrude on your stay. The cottages... More
