A great spot for that middle-of-the-walk pint. Two of our party enjoyed a pie of some sort which they enjoyed but maybe a tenner was a bit steep. Beer was spot-on, nice beer garden in an area of great historic interest.

We hadn't been to the Milecastle for quite a few years but it's still a great little place for good pub food and they now have real ales! I had the trout and my partner had the gammon, all well cooked and plenty of vegetables and potatoes/chips. Couldn't resist a dessert! We drove up from Haltwhistle, just a few minutes,... More

Arrived as a surprise for my son's 30th birthday. (total surprise) Easter weekend. Beautiful location and a good beer garden. Really cosy interior but as the sun was shining we sat outside. Food excellent and reasonably priced & the staff great. The only downside was that on a bank holiday weekend they closed at 3pm!! I realise, being an ex... More

Some of us had the game pies that were all right, some others had steaks that were ordered very rare but came overdone and probably not perfectly fresh. The service was all right. The decoration is very cosy and there is a good atmosphere.

I live in Tynemouth and have been coming to this pub for many years now, since it was a game restaurant and pub back in the 1980's. Its a lovely little pub and the food is fresh and cooked well. However, the prices are a bit steep for what is essentially good pub food. We aren't talking about a gastro... More

I often come to this pub, it is around an hours drive from where I live, but it is out in the country without being 'out in the sticks'. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, this is a nice quaint little pub, fairly small but worth visiting. There is a lovely beer garden and plenty of parking. The pub... More

4 of us had a very nice meal at Milecastle Inn, 3 of us had pies which were excellent. They even catered for a gluten free member of our party which was a nice surprise. The pies were proper game meat and had interesting combinations with tasty results (wild boar and duckling was great!)

This is a great place to stay for Hadrians Wall - the first milecastle can be seen from the cottage window. Plus it has its own stop on the Wall bus route, so perfect for getting a good start, or an easy end, to a days walking. The landlady is a star and was very agreeable despite our (very) late... More

We'd had a long day sight seeing and stumbled across this quaint little pub. The food was much need and very pleasant. The staff catered for our every need. Great little gem. Thoroughly recommend if you're near this establishment.
