Call in here when passing, always find it has a friendly atmosphere. Beer garden is good in summer. For a pub off the beaten track the price of drinks are not that expensive. Never eaten here but may well do in future. Definitely worth popping in if passing. I have read other reviews on here but it maybe that we... More

We had gone away with friends to their caravan near Haltwhistle in Northumberland. It was a cold bank holiday weekend with the sun teasing us the whole time. We'd been told in Newcastle before leaving that 'The Wallace' was the place to go for a steak. so it was a foregone conclusion that we would be going out for one... More

Best Sunday lunch we've had for a long time.. There was a choice of tasty starters, we chose the delicious home made soup served with a crusty bread roll. We both had the beef as the main course. Tender meat, home made Yorkshire puddings, crispy roast and mashed potatoes, turnip and gravy arrived piping hot with a separate dish of... More

I came in from work and decided to take the family for some food at the wallace arms, we rang ahead booked a table, went in ordered the food, sat down next to a very warm open fire, then we were told they did not have any means of taking card payments, and did we have cash?!!!!! they had started to... As a regular visitor to the Wallace Arms I have to say that I find the previous two reviews completely misleading and quite frankly unfair - and the 'mid life crisis' comment was quite unnecessary and rather rude We have always found the staff and locals to be welcoming and friendly, and have never known any of them to deliberately... We have been going to the wallace arms for a number of years now as it is one of our little stops as we pass every year on our hollidays. on arrival we "tried" to get through the front door and were met by a cloud of smoke, after we eventually got passed and through the door to the bar... More

10 of us have used this pub as a meeting place for the past three years and up until our last visit found it to be a very pleasant and accommodating place to meet and have Sunday lunch together. Unfortunately on our last visit everything was disappointing - the food, the service, the ambiance, in fact everything about The Wallace... More

Went to this pub for the first time, to see what it was like, as part of our day out in the countryside with the family. The barman was very hospitable, served us quickly and was very friendly. The meals when they came were the best any of us have ever tasted, and all home cooked, also there was plenty... More

We were camping nearby and my husband was desperate to see a Euro 2012 match, so ended up here on a Tuesday night which coincided with their special steak night - 2 steaks and bottle of wine for £24. Came with all the trimmings and really enjoyed it. Highly recommended.

After a very soggy walk this pub was a very welcome sight. There was a roaring open fire and a very good choice of beers. Although the menu is small compared to some other places the food is cooked fresh and is excellent quality. The apple crumble and ice cream was to die for. Well worth a visit if you... More
