A once warm, welcoming and busy local pub / restaurant is now cold, dirty and damp. Once through the crowd of smokers in the doorway, many of whom seemed to be staff I braved one beer in a dirty glass. Dogs seemed to be compulsory and the curt, scruffy "manager" needs a makeover. Won't be back until new owners are... More

We were recommended this pub by several locals as one of the best places to eat so we took plunge and walked the 4 miles there in rain with the pups. A great walk indeed. The pub was charming with open fires so we could dry off But it was empty. And they were not serving food that day. We... More

Upon arrival seen a sign saying Hotel. Isnt a hotel at all. Was told had no rooms despite overhearing guests say your rooms arent full to the barmaid, only for her to say sssssh. Did not want to put us up at all. This was because I walked in with my boyfriend, who i do admit is a bit camp.... More

We where at Featherstone to visit the old POW camp and meet a couple that advised us to walk the old railway line back to our car near the Castle. The old line came out onto the road and to our right we saw The Wallace Arms Hotel, great a Hotel lets go and have some tea, WRONG pushing past... More

I have stayed in many B&B's and this was by far the worst experience and the most expensive. It was £70 and I managed to get 2 hours sleep. Very noisy and the bed uncomfortable and creaked every time I moved! Not helped when eating breakfast the cleaner had the door to the men's loos open and the smell of... More

We were stopping nearby at Caravan and Camping Club and were given the Wallace Arms as a recommendation. It did not disappoint, the Ale was well kept and the food was of excellent quality with very generous portions. Friendly service, if in the area we would definitely have a return trip.

Stopped off at this pub during our walk in surrounding countryside. Very friendly, welcoming place with good choice of local beer. We were not eating out the day but the menu looked extensive and had been highly recommended several people. It is an easy and beautiful walk from the Haltwistle campsites.

Call in here when passing, always find it has a friendly atmosphere. Beer garden is good in summer. For a pub off the beaten track the price of drinks are not that expensive. Never eaten here but may well do in future. Definitely worth popping in if passing. I have read other reviews on here but it maybe that we... More

We had gone away with friends to their caravan near Haltwhistle in Northumberland. It was a cold bank holiday weekend with the sun teasing us the whole time. We'd been told in Newcastle before leaving that 'The Wallace' was the place to go for a steak. so it was a foregone conclusion that we would be going out for one... More

Best Sunday lunch we've had for a long time.. There was a choice of tasty starters, we chose the delicious home made soup served with a crusty bread roll. We both had the beef as the main course. Tender meat, home made Yorkshire puddings, crispy roast and mashed potatoes, turnip and gravy arrived piping hot with a separate dish of... More
