Called in to The Boat Inn as we had a couple of hours to kill and wanted a meal. The bar man was lovely and welcoming. Nicest I've met for a long time. The food was amazing. I had sirloin steak medium cooked which couldn't have been cooked better plus it was huge. Delicious home cooked chips, and lovely presentation.... More

Having moved away from this area sometime ago. Met my parents here pre Christmas, one Sunday Lunchtime. Because I had a long way to drive , only wanted a snack, or as it turned out just a starter, my Dad had the Sunday Roast. The battered Brie starter ,my Mom and I ordered, was first and foremost, delicious, secondly a... More

A great choice of food not just roast, you can order of the main menu if you so wish which unusual on a Sunday. The battered Brie to start was wonderful with cranberry, my father had devilled kidneys which were to... More

The Boat is our local & we've eaten there many times, including recently. I am renowned for being fussy/critical but I can honestly say I've enjoyed all of the meals from the extensive menu at the Boat. For a village rural pub, the menu choice is amazing and always cooked & presented to a high standard. I have many favourites,... More

Visited the Boat on way from The Midlands to Wales. Have been using it as a pit stop for many years so was looking forward to visiting it again. It was shabby, looked as bough fit could do with a good clean, needed re-decorating and the blown light bulbs needed replacing. The food portions were huge - much too big... More

We were coming back from Dudley when my grandmother recommended it because last time she went there it was fantastic. When we arrived we thought it looked like a creepy old building. Inside was worse, there were white marks on the walls where the paint has peeled, there were flies everywhere so it was fly central, the toilet doors opened towards you so... More

We had dinner here and also had the option to pitch our tent but we were glad we didn't. Food was poor and we sat next to a window and light that was full of dead flies. Seating was all ripped and generally looked very tired. The staff were great though. very friendly and accommodating. Considering the pub looked dirty... More

We visited twice while we were at the Hay festival.mthe landlord was very welcoming, friendly and the staff were lovely to our children. The food was fantastic, especially the fish dishes, and the children's menu was lovely: high quality food in small portions, not cheap, frozen deep fried stuff like you often get.

As a Hospitality Trainer/Assessor I always attempt to give a balanced view of any reviews I write. But this will be the exception to my rule. Having visited The Boat Inn with my wife I can find no reason to give any negative comments. I arrived first and was greeted in a friendly welcoming manner by the host. When my... More
