Visited here last weekend with my boyfriend and 7 month old Jack Russell for a birthday weekend away. On seeing pictures and reading reviews I was really looking forward to the break, but also had my reservations with it being the end of November and knowing how basic the cabin was. We had the most amazing, peaceful and relaxing weekend.... More

Excellent peaceful weekend break in a quiet location, yet close to all the amenities of Hay on Wye. Daphne was a perfect hostess, and the meal she prepared on our first night was perfection. Would highly recommend this B&B as a place to stay.

Daphne is a great host, this bed and breakfast is very unique, we had the pink room, bed fab!! Very cosy! Breakfast area great, with lovely views of the countryside. If you like something a bit "quirky" give it a go.

I came to the New Inn to join my son and his family who were staying in the self catering cottage so I actually experience the cottage and the Rising Sun. The location is wonderful: the views and surrounding country is glorious and the general ambiance of the place is very relaxed and free. It is a little alarming unloading... More

We stayed in The Rising Sun at the end of October and very much enjoyed our stay BUT wished we had been better prepared. Upon arrival it took a few attempts to get Daphne the owner to come to greet us, we had a similar problem when departing, so don't stay in the cabin if you are a high-maintenance traveller... More

We chose the Wagon over the Valley for our anniversary retreat this gone weekend, and we enjoyed every minute. The views are stunning and the wagon oozes rustic, earthy charm. All the basics are supplied for you; water, solar lighting, gas camping stove and cool-box. Being a city girl, I was a bit apprehensive about my first experience "glamping", as... More

You really must read the fineprint about the size of the bed as my other half was a little longer than the bed length and so it did feel a little cramped while trying to sleep. But if you fit - it is of course a perfect cozy self catering little gypsy style caravan. We enjoyed building a fire outside... More

Booked the Yellow room as a last minute stay a few weeks ago and we were pleasantly surprised. What a quirky accommodation, full of character, reflecting Daphne's wonderful personality and background. Homely, trinkets from around the world, amazing views, perfect breakfast. Thank you Daphne for just being yourself and providing somewhere earthy where people can feel comfortable, walk around barefoot,... More

lovely warm welcome with a superb breakfast. comfy bed. very charming and full of character would have liked a few more tea bags and milk as didn't like to ask for more. hubby would have like a tv but I liked the fact it had none! take rubber soled socks as the beautiful highly polish sloping floors are pretty slippery!... I booked The Wagon over the Valley as a birthday weekend for my partner. On arrival he was delighted, it's a very quirky place to stay! Daphne was lovely, very welcoming and friendly. The wagon itself is very cosy and equipped with everything you might need. At night it is pitch black apart from the lovely fairy lights that light... More
