Stayed in this hotel for one night whilst visiting family in the area. It was the only one with availability so Hobsons choice. The room was appalling - poky and dark with 2 single beds placed end to end. One bed had no bedside light. the TV volume did not work and one of the sash windows was jammed open.... more
I have to agree with the majority of positive reviews of this hotel. I had a one night stay on business and having previously booked with the larger chain hotels, thought I would give this one a go, having seen the reviews. I have to say I was not disappointed. We stayed at the old Lodge for two nights. Triple plus points were the very friendly welcome at reception and the excellent food at dinner, along with the first class service in the bar. Can I just say that whilst on a business trip I was actually accommodated elsewhere but if the service in the restaurant was anything to go by then I expect the rest of the hotel to be outstanding. The Old Lodge was recommended to us by a local resident and my colleagues and I thought we'd give it a try.... more
Recently attended our sons passing out parade in HMS Sultan. The Lodge was literally 5 mins away by car, ideally situated. the Lodge was very clean and beautifully decorated.
