We only had two nights at Appletree Cottage this July - in the down pour that was our summer - but Hilary and Stuart could not have made our time with them any more enjoyable and relaxed as it was. They provided clear instruction on how to find the cottage and was interested in everyone as individuals. The cream tea... More

Thank you for your kind words.Hilary does try and provide a wide choice for breakfast which is especially valued by guests not wanting the traditional English breakfast. Hopefully you are able to visit again and full details are on our web site. Best wishes Stuart More

We spent a lovely week in the Pippin which has a wonderful sea view is comfortable and very well equipped. Hilary & Stuart are welcoming hosts and a great source of local knowledge. The breakfasts are great with fresh fruit salad in addition to the cooked breakfast and really set you up for a day of walking not to mention... More

Thank you for your kind words. Walkers are always very welcome at Appletree Cottage and Hilary was pleased to read that you enjoyed her breakfasts. As you mention it is well situated close to the coastal footpath and high street. Best wishes Stuart More

I was at the end of a 4 day coast-path walk and needed some where to stay for 1 night and not inflated by single supplement. I booked about a month ahead. The contact all the time was informative and flexible about arrival times, places to eat etc. A scone was in the twin bedded room when I arrived, a... More

Thank you for taking the trouble to post a review and your kind comments regarding your stay. Walkers are always very welcome and the Russet room, although our smallest room, where you stayed seems to work well. At £29 a night (single) for B & B it is hopefully affordable for most walkers and the use of a bath is... More

I spent a lovely week at Appletree Cottage in June, and was given a very friendly welcome by Hilary and Stuart. The cottage is halfway up a short hill, carry on to the top for lovely coastal views from the cliff path. Breakfasts were excellent, Hilary even bought my favourite herbal teas, and the cake upon my return each day... More

Thank you for your kind comments and it is always pleasurable to read that guests want to return. Victoria Place is a very quiet road and room Pippin does have a great view out across the town and towards the sea at Otterhead . Although it shares a bathroom with our small room (Russet) it has the advantage of both... More

After six visits in six years, Appletree Cottage just seems to get better and better. Hilary and Stuart are great hosts, always welcoming and ready to go that extra mile to ensure that we have an enjoyable and relaxing time. Super food (Hilary's breakfasts are to die for!), comfortable rooms (go for Bramley if possible; sizeable bedroom, on-suite and a... More

Thank you for such a thoughtful review. The Bramley ensuite is very popular especially with the private sitting room and; for those staying 3 nights or more; we hope it offers good value at £58 per night for B & B. We are always delighted to welcome you back and pleased that you continue to enjoy your visits. Budleigh is... More

I return to Appletree Cottage often as I find Hilary & Stuart's establishment warm, welcoming and perfectly suited to a relaxing break. Close to the Devon cost and very close to the town which has all that one needs for a relaxing break. If you want a seaside break or just to stay with fine hosts in a relaxing &... More

This is a very good value B&B that ticked all our boxes. Our party of four, all over 70 but keen walkers, chose as rooms the Bramley and the Pippin, and both couples were pleased with their accommodation and four-night stay. Hilary is a cheerful friendly person and a good cook. Her breakfasts were generous and delicious, and provided a... More

Thank you for writing such a warm and complimentary review ... it makes running a B & B so worthwhile. Hilary does enjoy the cooking side almost as much as the chatting! It is always good to welcome walkers and to listen to their adventures along the coastal footpath. For those walking the footpath Budleigh does provide two good pubs... More

We stayed 2 nights in the Bramley room. The facilities were excellent and the private sitting room is a real bonus. We received a very warm and genuine welcome and this feeling continued during our stay. The breakfast is first-class with a good selection that includes local and home-made produce. The location cannot be faulted with its easy access to... More

It's good to read that you enjoyed your stay & may be back. Hilary thoroughly enjoys the cooking side of Bed & Breakfast and that is why there is a choice of some eight main courses. Full details are on the Appletree Cottage web site. Best wishes Stuart More

My wife and I stayed for three nights in the Bramley Room of this really nice B&B. We were made to feel very welcome. The room was excellent, very well furnished and supplied and we couldn't have asked for anything more. Ideally situated for both the town itself and the South West Coast Path. This reinforced our own long held... More

Thank you for writing such a kind review. The Bramley room with its own private sitting room is very popular. It provides a base for those who don't necessarily want to be out and about all day and also if it wet it has a TV with DVD & plenty of books. We would thoroughly recommend to you the running...
