Situated on a small hill overlooking the river, this charming, historic, stone built hotel is a real find. Lovely rooms, comfortable beds, great breakfast and very friendly, helpful staff. Hondarribia itself is an old walled city with plenty of interest, Basque architecture, and a lovely tree lined boulevard with fine tapas bars on either side. Great place!

Quirky place set in the heart of the old town, great base for exploring. A short walk to the restaurant area which had plenty of choice. However, when a previous report said the hotel is close to the airport I did not expect to be able to see the runway and control tower from the window. Luckily there were not... More

Once in a while the “Travel Gods” pick you out of the crowd and shower you with blessings!! This was the case when we booked at Hotel Obispo. We were looking for a hotel near the San Sebastian airport for our early morning flight to Barcelona. We did the booking well in advance, on line and were thinking that this... More

We have just cut short our stay in Hotel Obispo having stayed there before about 7 years ago. We were designated a room which was very much like a dark cell,. We know its a castle, but was small and well done on our last visit. This time it looked tired, smelled musty and the attitude of the staff, bar... More

This renovated "palace" is in a terrific location. With just a few changes it could be a fabulous boutique hotel. Staff is GREAT, owner is wonderful and our room was very clean but it needs some sprucing up to make up for all those stairs. Thankfully we had help schlepping our bags up to the 3rd floor or it would... More

Situated in the old town, the Hotel Obispo is a wonderful place to stay. Our room was tastefully furnished in a style befitting this historic old building, The room was spacious and clean with a 'huge' bed.The bathroom was stocked with all manner of toiletries. The staff were also extremely helpful and recommended several places to dine in the old... More

Following their directions and making a 355 degree turn at the roundabout, you arrive at a gate, call and the barrier is immediately lifted. A short drive around a minor square and you arrive. Signage is well placed and accurate .Parking is limited to 7 spaces but once in you have no need for a car in the Old Town.... More

Guide Michelin has been our helper for many years, and that is how we found the Obispo. We look for small, high quality, quiet hotels, and Obispo fitted our requirements, except that the runway of the local airport was within sight and with lots of noise. at take offs. Fortuneately, Hondarribia has few flight movements, but Michelins "quiet symbol" :... More

It says something very positive about a hotel when you start by describing the wonderful staff. Due to a last-minute change of plans, we had an extended stay here, six nights, and the staff was wonderful. We never entered or left the hotel without exchanging greetings with someone at the front desk. Any request we made was eagerly filled, and... More

All in all, a great stay at the Hotel Obispo, a restored 14th century mansion located in the old, walled part of Hondarribia. We booked the “Double room with extra bed” (2 twin beds + a smaller cot) at the last minute, which was a bit cramped for 3 adults (more appropriate for a couple travelling with a child), though...
