We were 2 grown ups and our teenage son, who stayed here for 4 nights. We stayed in one room but we didn't feel we had too little space. The views are stunning and breathtaking. The interior at the pousada is very interesting and romantic. There are a lot of indoor areas where you can sit and relax, read a... More

The first time I stayed in this old monastery turned into a hotel, I fell completely in love! That was maybe some ten years ago. Until now, I've always stayed in the suite, because the price difference compared to the normal rooms has not been that significant (if I remember correctly, the first time, we only paid about 100€ for... We spent one night here on the way from Porto to the Algarve and had a lovely visit. The Poussada is in a great location with a magnificent view of the valley that you can see from the rooms, pool area and restaurant. Our room was clean, large, well appointed and had a comfortable bed. The air conditioning worked well.... More

We stayed here one night. The Possada is absolutely lovely and peaceful. You don't have a room number but rooms are named after the Friars. Lovely old world feel and very relaxing. It has a swimming pool which was appreciated in the hot weather. The room we had was spacious and had a small balcony and views overlooking the valley.... More

This Pousada has wonderful character, with lovely touches in the elegant decor reflecting its former life as a Monastery. Rooms named after the Friars with sketches of the Friars on the bedroom corridors. The lounge was the chapel. Our room was very spacious with a balcony overlooking the Portuguese countryside. Air conditioning was very good; definitely needed in temps of... More

Excellent desk staff-very helpful. Rooms are a good size, but ours was rather dark as the window looked over the courtyard. We ate only bre akfast in the restaurant-it was OK, but we had to wait a long time for coffee while others were being served. I finally just got my own. Good location for walking-very safe at night. We... More

We went for my husbands birthday treat and it really exceeded our expectations. The friendliness of the staff and their attention to detail, the comfort of the large rooms with a balcony overlooking the mountains with spectacular views. We had our evening meal in the restaurant and it was beautifully cooked and served. It was expensive by Portuguese standards but... More

This is a very one of kind hotel. The location is a bit out of the center but the hotel is very unique. The room is big and nice. The service is excellent. We had dinner, the food is excellent but not cheap. The facility is amazing.

I rarely give 5 stars. Always have been a tough grader. This one merits it. This hotel is elegant, understated and grand. Nothing flagrant or flamboyant as reflected by the setting-a former convent in massive stone. The rooms are spacious and supremely comfortable. Four poster bed is superb. The convent setting seems to make the guests talk in hushed respectful... More

We recently stayed two fantastic nights at this beautiful Pousada. As soon as we arrived the staff were so friendly and made us feel immediately at home! Our room was very romantic with a spectacular view from the balcony of the valley below. The convent has been tastefully restored and the solid granite walls mixed with local wood give you... More
