This is not your usual hotel. It's 4 star and not luxurious by any means but that's not the point -- you're here for the history, the beautiful landscape and the tranquility. The property is very nicely restored and carries lots of natural beauty and has an authenticity you won't find in normal hotels. Very quiet and more relaxing than... more

June 30th 1997 Sitting with refreshments in the shady cloisters while the Alentejo baked around us was heaven. The buildings were beautiful, the azulejos amazing and the peace was perfect. As it got cooler we were able to walk in the pine forest high up behind the convento and see it in all its glory. The staff were always attentive... more
