Brilliant budget hostel. More expensive than the budget options you'd get in Bergen or other places but this is the cheapest in Voss. We stayed in a 4 bed dorm room which was perfectly comfortable and had great views over the lake. We used the hostel as a base to cycle the Rallarvegen from Finse to Flam. Facilities - excellent.... I booked the more expensive twin room with lake view for single use can sleep 4 including breakfast was 2085 NOK around £182. The breakfast was a surprise what you'd expect in a 4 star hotel. Many fresh fruit, yoghurt, cheeses, bread, salad, cereals etc. the room was basic but spacious. The shower is very good and warm. The toilet... More

Good value for money accommodation in Voss is hard to find especially if you are not staying as park of a ski package. The hostel has private rooms as well as dorms which are clean and spacious with comfortable beds and spotless shower rooms. There is a kitchen but also a restaurant. The common areas are lovely with modern sofas... More

This was the only accommodation we felt we wished to afford in tourism-dominated Voss, and we were not disappointed. The lake-side location was excellent, despite the rain, and our window looked right out across the lake to the wooded hills beyond. It was quite peaceful once the group of youngsters had stopped daring themselves to dash into the lake and... More

We stayed one night at the Voss Hostel in August of 2014. It cost us NOK $930, plus NOK $50 to rent two towels. We stayed in room 106, which had a private bath room. This is what I liked about the hostel: 1) Location. The Voss Hostel is right on the shore of Lake Vangsvatnet, so if you get... More

The hostel just locates at the lake side. Guests can enjoy the mountains and the reflection on the lake. It’s a tranquil stay. Moreover, the breakfast is very surprising and yummy. However,we ordered the triple room but they offered one double bed and two buck beds above. The ladder was shaking when one climbed up on it. It... More

We basically just slept here passing by on our way back to Bergen. The rooms were basic, but clean, which was all we needed. The breakfast was very good and the staff were very helpful when we needed an icepack for an injury suffered the previous day.

As others have said the breakfast is great and the location/desk are great, but the place could use a bit of a sprucing up. It's a good option to use Voss for hiking and other adventures in the area. Norwegian teens running around slamming doors for hours may or may not be included in your visit!

For a budget option, the VH more than met our expectations. The greeting at reception was warm, friendly & helpful, the room was simple but adequate and the view of the lake from our room was a bonus. Yes the building and the facilities are very tired but the breakfast choice was broad and tasty, the deck was great place... More

Everything in Norway is expensive. We were in Voss for two days kayaking and hiking. The rooms are a minimialist and a bit run down, it is a 15 min walk to nearest Kiwi (supermarket) and train station, but nevertheless a good budget option because of its breakfast and kitchen. We stayed in a private double room for the price... More
