This is a great hotel ... family run, the owners just couldn't be nicer or or more helpful. Norway was having a bit of a heatwave when we were there and the owner gave my husband swim trunks so we could swim in the fjord. Anything you needed ... all you had to do was ask... This is a gem of a place. It is a simple hotel, 30 rooms, in a breathtaking situation on the Sognefjord in the village of Ballestrand. We had a fjord-view room (am so glad we paid extra for it) and so enjoyed our stay there. The owners and staff couldn't have been more helpful and kind. The breakfast was delicious... more

The best of everything! The views were just gorgeous. The room had a great big window that can capture the entire view of the fjord. The best were the owners. When we took the trips to the glaciers, they even brought us raincoats and backpack to make our trip easier on us. I can't recall the last time we stayed... more

The family run business does a great job of making you feel very elcome and at home. great reading areas or sit on the balcony and look at the amazing views. very quiet place to regroup and relax. we loved our three days there. would recommend this as a much stay place. we have the greatest memories of this little... more

We made arrangements before arriving, and they were waiting to pick up our bags at the ferry. We opted to walk to the hotel from there. Very helpful and friendly family owns and operates the hotel. They gave us good information (better than the tourist info office) about how to do what we were interested in doing in the area.... more

The Balestrand Hotel is a great place to stay for travelers on a budget (which would describe most people traveling in Norway) without sacrificing any expected amenities.
