My husband and I stayed here for three nights. We had travelled from Oslo by train and the Flambahn and by ferry from Flam to Balestrand. The trip from Oslo to Balestrand takes around 9 hours. Our room was in the original building. What it lacked in mod cons was more than made up for by the stunning view from... More

We have just had two very pleasant days at the Kviknes Hotel. Although the reception lobby is pretty modern, the lounges, dining room and other public areas really take you back to a much earlier and more elegant era. Our room was in the newer part of the hotel which meant that it was a pretty standard 3/4 star arrangement.... More

We stayed at Kvikne's for two nights. We had the special buffet meal one night. The food choices were amazing and we liked everything we tried. The hotel staff were excellent and our room was also very comfortable with a fantastic view out over the water of Sognefjord.

We traveled the fjord land area of Norway a decade ago. As with most, we were blown away by the scenery. We always wanted to return...too many places to see in this world. We go someplace a couple of time a year...do we go someplace new or a place we've been and love. So we made it back to Norway... More

We stayed two nights at Kviknes Hotel. The hotel is in two parts, the old part with lots of atmosphere and the 'modern' concrete block. Our room was in the modern block with views to the mountains and the fjord. The room was nice, it was clean and had a bacony. It was the only hotel room during our two... More

We stayed in the old part of the hotel, very small rooms (but at least they were adjoining) and two flights of stairs to lug our suitcases up. The rooms were a little too warm (but we were there in the middle of a heat wave - 32 C!) The view was fantastic. Breakfast was very good but you have... More

Kvikne hotel belongs to the Norwegian historic hotels and the atmosphere smells pre 1st world war with German Kaizer as visitor. Rooms in the old historic building are exotic but you could as well go for a room in the less historic next to it. Evening dinner in the main restaurant is somewhat noisy. If you do not belong to... My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time in Balestrand and staying at Kvikne's Hotel was the main reason why. It's just steps from where the fjord express boat stops, it's near grocery stores and restaurants, and, most importantly, it's a stunningly beautiful historic hotel with incredible views of the mountains and water. Our room in the more "modern" building... More

We loved our stay in a creaky old-style room at Kviknes. The public rooms are beautiful Neo-Viking Baronial style, and our rooms in the old building were as expected. We actually had two rooms that were connected via the bathroom! Had never seen that before, but it worked fine for one night with our teen kids in the other room.... More
