Stunningly beautiful setting and a thoroughly charming hotel. Good value. A lovely town to visit and a great place to relax. Try to get a room facing the water. Food and beverage service is good. Old part of the hotel is charming with lots of comfy lounge spaces. The one downside id there is no laundry service - one must... More

I arrived at the hotel by ferry from Bergen (about 4 hours). The scenery was impressive and inspiring. The hotel was a continuation of those positive feelings. It is perched along the fjord, the rooms have wonderful views (I was in a corner room so had views in two directions), and the staff was accommodating and attentive. The hotel is... More

Amazing! This hotel with such a large and perfectly preserved wooden structure is worth traveling a long way to see. With origins going back into the 19th century and a colourful history since then it would be very hard to eclipse in just about any way. Location great, service superb, room spacious and clean, views over the fjord unbeatable there... More

We rang ahead and asked to be transferred from a room in the modern block to the 'historical' part of the hotel. We were glad we did because although it was slightly more expensive, the view from our room, which had an enormous balcony and chairs, was exceptional. At dinner, instead of the buffet, we chose to eat a la... More

We can't say enough about how the service by the staff of the Kviiknes Hotel was above and beyond our expectations . On our journey to the Kviknes, we unknowingly took the wrong ferry (from Flam) down the wrong fjord, and we found ourselves with no way to get to Balestrand. We called the Kviknes and told them of our... More

We spent one night on a tour in Norway at this delightful, historical hotel and enjoyed the experience. Our room was in the large new wing but overlooked the fjord. The old section of the hotel has some beautiful sitting rooms with loads of interesting paintings and photographs. There was no fridge in the room and very limited toiletries supplied.... More

Even though my room was small and not in the beautiful old section of the hotel the stunning location and friendly attentive service made my two days there an absolute delight. The local nature walk provided a welcome few hours respite from normal sight seeing

The Kviknes is a Grande old dame of a hotel strategically located on a stunning fjord. In the romantic tradition, the entire first floor is a series of comfortable living-room like settings that just beg you to take off your shoes and enjoy a drink while soaking up the view. The hotel has been family run for generations, and the... More

We stayed here for one night recently and though the dinner buffet looked good, we had to look for alternatives due to the steep price of almost 500 KR. We opted for the bar in the hotel which has a lighter menu and boy! Were we glad! The food and service was fantastic and we paid max.200KR per person for... More

We went on a holiday. The hotel was very nice. Our room, upgraded to the heritage block, was excellent with one of the best views of the fjord. We were lucky to see a rainbow from our room after a short burst of rain. Had never seen a rainbow so clearly. The room itself was good with an olden days... More
