I don't think you can get any better than this as a hotel setting. Rooms had a fjord view and a balcony to sit out and stare at the settings for as long as you please. Coffee and breakfast in the morning were fantastic. A bit of a drive to get to but one of the most beautiful places I've... More

Love the view of this hotel so much. Best time was the sunset. The hotel itself is charming as well. The room was nothing fancy and a bit old. No AC. The buffet dinner was alright, nothing special and very noisy with a lot of group tourists.

Room is bit older but very quiet and clean. We got great view to overlook the water from our balcony. This is an... More

My two sisters and I had the pleasure of staying in this gorgeous historic hotel in Balestrand, Norway, and had a wonderful experience. Be sure to ask to stay in the old section and request a room with a fjord view, if possible, as it is beautiful. As an older hotel, it has its quirks, but they are fun in... More

We stayed for one night in this hotel. As we were on a short self guided tour our room was situated in the large block at the rear of the hotel an not in the traditional older section. The room was small with a comfortable bed and quite acceptable for one night. There were no bathroom products, so be aware that... More

I was in love before we ever got off the ferry! Beautiful historic structure in a fairy tale setting. I had mixed emotions upon learning we were in the addition, but the room was comfortable, the bathroom was modern, and the views from our 8th floor balcony were terrific. My husband saw a posted warning to guests about smoking in... More

My wife and I spent 2 nights in this hotel. The hotel is situated on a sort of peninsula, in a small village called Balestrand, on the banks of Sognefjord. [the largest fjord in Norway] The hotel is divided into the historic building and a modern wing; Our suite was in the historic building. Our feeling was like royalty from... More

Very picturesque location. Spacious room, modern, clean, comfortable. Bathroom a good size and well appointed. Comfortable bed. Lovely view. Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. A la carte dinner menu a little limited. Would have liked to have stayed longer than the one night we had there. Highly recommend. Don't pass this one by!

Its easy to tell that history sits deep in these walls. The old part feels like you just wandered into the national gallery`s little brother. Situated beautifully on the northern shore of the Sognefjord, the Kviknes hotel offers a spectacular view to the dramatic and ever-changing fjord landscape. I had a room in the new part unfortunately, but the experience... More

This is a spectacular, old and historic hotel in an idyllic setting along the fjord in Balestrand. The public spaces, including the breakfast room/dining room were grand and stately and well-kept. My room, in the historic wing, was spacious with a large balcony overlooking the water. But besides hearing the creaky floorboards, I think I heard noises from each room... More
